  • saw megadeth last week...

it was killer! saw them at the Nation in D.C.

good points: fukking awesome show. Glen Drover played all marty's and chris poland's solo's to a T. that dude is the MAN! saw him with King Diamond and he mastered all pete blakk and michael denner's solos as well. and you could tell that he wasn't even struggling a bit and just havin fun on stage! james bass playing was in perfect megadeth form. and he did it with his fingers (try that junior!) the other drover (who's first name elludes me for the moment) ripped it up perfect! kinda funny looking behind that big nick menza style cage with those big headphones on... which brings me to the bad points...

bad points: Backing Vocal Tracks!!!!! well, most people are using them these days. but it does bother me that Dave of all people would use them. oh well, thats was really not that big of a suprise or a bad point in all honesty.
the worst part of the whole thing (besides exodus having pantera stytle vocals) was the crowd itself. i guess i'm just old now and know better... but it really bothers me to see all these kids going crazy and singing all the words to these "post countdown" songs... and then when they play peace sells, they all stand there and look at each other like they have never heard the song before... untill the chorus kicked in. i mean come on... if you don't recognise that song from the first bass line in the beginning... WHAT THE HELL ARE DOING AT A MEGADETH SHOW!!!!!!!!!

overall i loved it! opening up with set the world on fire was spectacular! i could have used some more older songs in the set but what can you do.

good job dave! glad i got a chance to see megadeth before it was too late.

I was at the NY show last week. It was amazing, I even got to meet Dave!

Anyways, the new guitar player was good but his playing sounded really stiff at times. But then he is following Marty and Chris (some of the smoothest mofos ever). The drummer was good considering the time he had to learn the material. James however was amazing! What a bass animal that guy is!

Talk abotu an old school thrashing tour man, Exodus and Megadeth. I was in my element that night dude. I spent the whole night thrashing away in the pit, the next day I was in too much pain to go see Slayer and I could hardly move for work.

Exactly! He's got one of the most indentifiable voices in metal. Gary and Rick are awesome of course, but Zetro really gave the band their identity. I was really bummed when I found out that he got fired... AGAIN!

Sistas, I met Dave too! As well as Gary and Rick. My bud Sal dragged me to some pizza place 15 minutes before the doors were open because he was so damn hungery and you wouldnt guess who was there when we got there.

cool.!!...the hired guns did kick major ass in milwaukee...
I agree that the "play the tape backing vocals" were a drag and lame....
sh!t it sounds like many got a better opener with exodus .. we got "ear shot" and you can wipe your ass with those poser wanna bees....
having 2 guitar players neither bringing any playing of mention to the table ,spells pathetic band !
**** the crowd was throwing beer on them them till they fnally got the hint and walked off..

I too must being growing old because ,because the mosh that reared its ugly head at the most commercial of times during the night got annoying to the point where the house muscle was finally tossing the drunk punks out...its all fun till you piss the target market off...
                            I give the show a "B"
bottom line is; dave writes the songs, its dave band and show, he gets the endorsements, and it really doesnt matter who the sidemen are as long as they cop whats on the prior vinyl .....the rest of the supporting past/present cast is awesome, but realize its daves creation, so give it up for the man ...its hard to put out consistent hit albums over a 22 year time frame..
this is not my fave show or album , but before you throw down on him ,you do better than him...

As you can see, that's the Detroit gig (120MB)... sound quality is okay, a bit on the quiet side though. Ripped from a radio station I guess.
Thought this might be of interest to some, enjoy...
