Wasn't it Brazil where he went off on the audience for saying some pro-saddam crap and he played the star spangled banner a few times?

you can read about what Yngwie has to say about this incident here, just scroll down to October 11th 2001.

Re: Yngwie\'s new album title

damn...I'm listening to a lot of Yngwie lately, I can't get enough of far beyond the sun....don't know what it is but I love the various live versions of it. The one on G3 is pretty awesome...I really love the intro he does to it..I think it's a Bach piece or something...(the slow part where only Yngwie and the keyboard is playing)
Just an awesome player and a character, I think a lot of people prejudice on him but all the interviews I've seen he's been really cool about everything.
Good thing I'm building a YJM strat replica..soon start doing some neoclassical stuff myself

Check eBay. I've got several DVD's with Yngwie. I have an early Rising Force show from '85 that's a little tougher to find. For easier to find material, there is "Live" from the early/mid '90's and also "Live from Budakon" which has Mike Vescera on vocals. Another total '80's flashback is Yngwie's "Trail By Fire" filmed in Leningrad and featuring Joe Lynn Turner on vocals... remember, "Heaven Tonight"?

Yea, I've got the Trial By Fire on VHS. I believe they issued it in DVD now. The Brazil DVD does not have the reported "incident" that is being discussed. He was in Houston last spring after the G3 Tour and he still shreds as good now them when I first saw him in 1985. Even his overall production sounds better with the better technology available. Gone are his Moog pedals and they have been replaced with a Roland PK5 pedal midi controller in to a Roland synth module. Between him and the keyboard he gets this whole orchestra sound going and he just rips the solos out violin style. Awesome!

Another DVD is "Yngwie Malmsteen Live". It is a 2000 year release. It was filmed at a concert in Brazil.

I think I had that DVD. Yngwie sings (quite well actually) "Manic Depression". It's not in the set list or credits. The production of the DVD wasnt that great, but Maaaaan did he SHREAD! Did some acoustic stuff too.....Really cool. I Just traded it to Scott Vwall for a Vai DVD.

Maybe he should do a cover of Spandex Enormity by SOD and dedicate it to himself!! The old fat bastid can still play up a storm tho. Come to think of it, I guess if you're going to romp around in spandex with a double chin and a beer gut, you better be amazing

He doesn't seem to evolve, though. He pretty much explored this classical shred. So why not try some romantic (as in 1800-1900) HM? That would be worth buying non-pirated

Cuz no one wants to be known as a romantic heavy metal player

he has evolved a LOT...watching him live in 1984 it's almost not good..watching him 20 years later he has a lot more control...he also says this himself...but that doesn't mean he's started playing any major scales or anything

That part is an excerpt from a piece by Albinoni (I *think* that's the spelling...) I believe his "Icarus Dream Suite" borrows heavily from Albinoni (either the same piece or some other one) compositions as well.
