• World Famous Peavey Endorsee - On Board!

Check out the pics of our own Mike Hickey (MHGoldtop) from the band Venom, featured in the latest issue of Guitar World! The ad is for the 'new' Peavey 6505, really just a rebadged 5150. Looks like Peavey is going to continue cranking out EVH stuff, hopefully they will rename his Wolfgang and make a million more of those, too! Anyway, Mike actually has a couple of original block logo 5150's, Peavey took the liberty of photoshopping his picture, to make it look like he is pictured with the 6505. Pretty good company as well, Mike is prominently featured in the ad AND right next to Ted Nugent!!! When I spoke to Mike about it he was wondering when UPS was pulling up to his door with this new amp that he endorses, but doesn't actually own! Go Mike! Here are the pics:

SH!t, I heard VH may be dumping Peavey (with the Charvel stuff going on) but, they have wiped his name right off their site. Guess it's true...Wonder what amp he will be going to?

Venom is most certainly not dead, they have been working on tunes for the past year or so, album forthcoming. As far as George dumping Peavey, I had not heard that yet. George himself spoke about his upcoming amp 'The Brahma' at a guitar clinic this past summer.

wow! I hope they will make a 6505 212 combo version...if they are then I'm getting one of those for SURE!!
what does 6505 stand for anyway? just a random replacement for 5150?

Re: World Famous Peavey Endorsee - On Board!

I think it stands for 1965-2005, some kind of 40 year anniversary for peavey.

And of course it just happends to be 4 digits and looks almost exactly like the 5150

I don't see why they wouldn't have a 2x12 version, they just re-named it.

There's Peavey's news release. It will be unveiled at the Winter Namm in January. The Wolfgang is being replaced by Carina. Im anxious to see what these look like. Maybe now that EVH isn't controlling the design of the amp, if they will ever make one availible with a real clean channel.

I get to see the Nuge in January

I am supposed to get the 6505 right after NAMM...once it arrives I will let y'all know what it's like. Hopefully it will retain the 5150 tone. I'm glad Eddie left Peavey now I can be in the advert!
Gotta dig being next to The Nuge!!!!

I imagine we will see the 6505 advertised as the "metal amp" it is. Lets face it, VH tone freaks usually go the Soldano or modded Marshall rout, so it's cool that they have the likes of Arch Enemy and of course Venom (mike) representing it cuz thats what this amp has always been. I love my XXX but the 5150 has a tone you cant seem to get from anything else and it's a killer tone.
