Re: Chris DeGarmo
From the back page "whatever happened to..." section of a recent Guitar One mag:
He got his pilot's license & flies Lear jets. He toured with Jerry Cantrell in '98, & played on his 2002 CD Degradation Trip. He plays in a part-time group called Spyz4Darwin with Mike Inez & Sean Kinney from AIC, & singer Vin Dombrowski from Sponge. He hasn't ruled out joining a full-time band again, but he's really into his kids right now & has a lot of varied interests. Sounds like he's stayed in the Seattle area. He doesn't really say specifically why he left Queensryche, except that the chemistry changed & it was time to go.

Re: Chris DeGarmo
Queensryche isn't the same without him. Any other guitarists/musicians besides he and Steve Morse, pilots too?

Re: Chris DeGarmo
Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden is a certified commercial pilot and actually works on commercial flights on his time off. I'm pretty sure Nicko McBrain is a qualified 'social' (or whatever!) pilot as well.Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Re: Chris DeGarmo
He left because he doesn't want to tour anymore. He is a pilot, and doing well with it. Plus , he is still making tall cash from royalties! He doesn't have the fire anymore.1990 Jackson Professional

too funny lerx...actually Bruce flew the Iceland Air jet to Copenhagen I think it was in 2003, with lots of maiden fans onboard..then they took the bus from copenhagen to roskilde where he slipped into the leather pants and performed with maiden on the roskilde festival...another day at the office

Re: Chris DeGarmo
i wish Chris was still in the 'Ryche sometimes. They look so strange with that new guy (Mike Stone?), the blonde guy i think it is, playing Michael's Eclipses. Chris and Mike are a huge influence on my style (their double solos, and solos in general really hit me), and its weird to see them do 'Jet City Woman' with the new guy doing the intro.

Re: Chris DeGarmo
It'd be nice if he were still there to counter Tate's pompous tendencies, but if he's happy then I'm glad for him. I understand Mike Stone's quite a good guitarist as well, much better than Kelly who got the gig as a FOGT.
The guy who replaces a favorite star rarely gets a good review though.Ron is the MAN!!!!

Chris actually contributed to (and played on) Queensryche's last album "TRIBES"...a few tracks from what I understood.
[/ QUOTE ]
Chris' contributions were heavily hyped but sadly, that album just didn't live up to the PR. I really wish Chris well and I do wish Queensryche could return to their glory days.
As for Chris' current gig flying Lears, that's a pretty nice ride.Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.
