I stand corrcted! I did a little search for Queensryche set lists and found a bootleg from PL tour. They did ALL of PL except 1 song. Here it is...SAINTS AND SINNERS- Great show, during the 1995 Promised Land era. (2cds). SETLIST-1) I am 2) Damaged 3) Bridge 4) SCreaming In Digital/NM156 5) My Global Mind 6) Neue Regel 7) Anarchy X/Revolution Calling 8) Operation Mindcrime 9)Spreading the Disease 10) The Mission 11) I don't Believe in Love 12) My Empty Room DISC 2- 1) Eyes Of A Stranger 2) Empire 3) Jet City Woman 4) Promised Land 5) Disconnected 6) Lady Jane 7) Out of Mind 8) One More Time 9) Silent Lucidity 10) Take Hold of the Flame 11) Someone Else- I count 10 out of 11 PL songs performed at this show!

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, at a certain point I'm sure they did, but by the time they reached the L.A. Forum they dumped most of the PL crap. Maybe I Am I and Damaged, I'm not certain. I know they had 2 opening acts, can't remember the first but Type O Negative was the second, and their set could have only encompassed a little more than half the number of songs you listed, so they obviously had cut most of the PL stuff by the time they made it to L.A.; they certainly didn't play anywhere near 23 songs, maybe 14 or 15. It's simple, if the songs aren't going over live, you cut 'em from the list. They got pretty much mercy applause from the crowd on the PL songs, golf claps at best. I love Queensryche's music through Empire, but I'm not gonna nutswing on any piece of crap they put out. They declined badly after Empire, trying to be trendy and missing the boat each time out. I hope for the best for OMCII though; maybe they still have some fire in them.

atilla...great post. i have been disappointed by every QR release until i listened to each CD a bunch and let the songs marinate...the band is great because they have never made the same album twice. most worked out ok (except Sign of the Times). i'm a bit worried about OMII because it may be a re-treading of a true classic.

Sign of The Times is a song on Hear In The Now
Frontier. I can see your points, heck even Rage For Order had to grow on me. i also "made" myself like the Rush albums from Signals until Power Windows, just because loved the band and wanted to like those records. I wuld actually say HITNF was my favorite album of the ones made after Empire;
not really the band I first liked, but it had some good moments on its own, as a rock rather than metal album. Promised Land and Q2K just bored me to tears though, and Tribe is pretty dull too. I tried, but they wuldn't grow on me like the others. Still, if you like them more power to you, your QR experience is purer than mine thereby.

Re: Chris DeGarmo

The Promised Land to me was the equivalent to Metallicas black album...it was the beginning of the end for queensryche...

They were starting to morph from metal to alternative on Empire but still had it's metal roots...On the Promised Land ...it was still a little of both directions...but even more experimental..and that's always a recipe for disaster with a metal icon..

and as far as I'm concerned Q2k and Tribe are not Queensryque albums they are Tate's ego albums...the solo album that he was trying to do all along because "he is not a metal singer"...his words..not queenryche's.

His solo album sucks ass..got terrible reviews and was a major flop...it didn't seel because it sucked.

People wanted their Queenryche back ...so now they got their queensryche back...but by now I don't care no more..

Just like with bands such as Metallica or Van Halen ...life goes on with out you ass holes..and bands get better and better leaving them and their egos far behind..

some fans , like me, never forget when you take a dump on them..

I worshipped and saw Queensryche when they were true to themselves and to all...when they were good as they were going to be ...I'll leave my memories of them intact and not go to that show ...even for free.

I hate when a band does something soley for the money...and that's what this is to me..it's phony...it's money gig...that I will not be suckered to support....

like I did with QR 18 years ago..

I'll give them another chance if they put out some new awesome material...but I'm not holding my breath.

and the hell with Fates Warning too...their last one is a peice of crap..

For me "The Warning" was the best, what a debut. There was a couple off "Operation" and the title track off "Empire". After that I was done with them.

Empire is one of the best albums ever IMO, I still enjoy every moment on it.

I agree Bill, but I guess i'm just a sucker and I have to go see them (maybe for train wreck value?) I hope MCII will be good, but I don't know....

As far as Fates Warning goes, one of my favorite bands every....until after No Exit. What a dive they took after that album. What the hell happens to these guy. JESUS! (or SATAN )

Amen,Dave!Take Hold of the Flame was a badass song.To everyone in my neck of the woods,it was a benchmark for a serious metal vocalist or somewhat progressive metal band that wasn't as campy as some of the stuff that was out at the time!.........Rev.Timmy

Oh the early Queensryche and Fates Warning stuff was rthe sh!T ...no doubt..

But not no more..unless they do something new to proove me wrong...But I'm very sceptical.

I just can't wait for the new Preist stuff because I know at least that will be metal...I just hope it's killer...that album I have high hopes for...I hope it takes after where Painkiller left off..

Man, I can't wait for the new Priest. Halford has been my favorite vocalist since the first time I heard the big gay loon. I remember seeing Priest for the first time in 1984, the Defenders Tour, and sitting 2nd row right in front of the Metallion. Rob walks out to Ian Hill's pounding intro to Love Bites and Halford lit into the song with so much POWER. He became my idol that day and I have never looked back.

Geoff Tate once had that kind of power in his voice. I saw Queensryche a few years ago and he was sucking hard, not the same guy who blew my face off when opening for Metallica on the Justice tour. Tate was at his best then - lots of power and range and a wicked awesome hairdo.

DeGarmo and Wilton were great - those guys had so much control over what they were doing.

It's funny you mentioned Fates Warning, as I was listening to Awaken The Guardian just last night. There are some great songs on that album. I actually like some of the later stuff better, with Ray on vocals. John Arch is cool, but he can be a bit much.

Amen to that! I've always been a moderate fan of priest (more of a Maiden guy), but I loved the Painkiller album. They have always managed to stay true to themsleves while keeping up with current trends in metal. I'm confident that the new album will be great.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but, the single they posted didn't sound too promising. Didn't sound like painkiller at all. I'm just hoping they are trying to be diverse and that was their "Rock" song.

Man, I rmember buying the EP when it first came out and then I was supposed to see them open for Maiden on the Powerslave/Warning tour but Dickinson got sick. i saw them on the Operation Mindcrime tour though when they opened for Metallica and I saw them again on the Empire tour. I don't think I'd like to see them now though.
