Re: Phil Anselmo speaks about Dime

Most of Damageplans disk is songs apparently aimed at Phil and they are far from positive. Long before the now infamous interview Phil gave.

It was just last month that Anselmo said in an article that Dimebag was a stupid little man who should be beaten severly. I feel no pity for Anselmo at all, because if Dime was still alive, Phil would still be talking shit about him.
Cool vid though Wodka, thanks for sharing.

      [/ QUOTE ]

Personaly i think Phil over did it, but yes he was bad mouthing Dime, but you have to think of it this way. They were like a family and you have fights with family and say stupid stuff! But then if something happens to that family memeber you are right there beside them, sometimes it takes a tragidy to make you realize the stupid things you say and do and to make you realize how much you love/care for a person! I feel bad for Phil, i think he really does care alot about Dime and his brother, i just hope now the two remaining take the time to repair the damage.

[/ QUOTE ]Phil walked away and thereby destroyed a group that was Darrell and Vinnie's lives. Were they supposed to be all shiny happy about it? Did Darrell speak of how he could kill Phil, that Phil deserved a beatdown, and that his fans would do anything he said? Most importantly, is Phil dead rigt now? Those answers are all "No" as far as I'm aware. The timing of events makes a huge difference. As far as tragedies drawing feuding family together, sometimes that's true and sometimes it's the opposite. Phil is not really family to Vinnie, he's someone who was close to him for many years, then junkied out and left him and his late brother hanging in the wind. The last thing he said about Darrell was full of venom and bile, and now he blames it on the metal media instead of just saying he's sorry that HE SAID THOSE THINGS. Until he stops trying to push off the blame on the media for his own words, I think he fully deserves the pain I'm sure he's feeling. I have no doubt he'll never get a glimmer of forgiveness from Vinnie until he does that, because this is the same lack of responsibility that led him to quit Pantera without even telling anyone, that led him to be a heroin addict that endangered the band for so many years. I'm sure Phil's hurting and I have some sympathy, but the Abbotts were absolutely right to bar him from the funeral. If nothing else, Zakk would've probably beat him down for the crap he said. If not Zakk, probably half the people there would want to fukk him up consdering. He gave up the right to be there with the words of his Metal Hammer interview.

[/ QUOTE ]Haven't heard it in its context, but that could mean seconds away from dying of a heroin OD. Even if it's explicit elsewhere, the point is that Phil is not the one who's dead, and Darrell's not the one who wished harm on him and spoke of death one week before a murder. That isPhil's statement, right before the guy was murdered. Tell me, if a former friend turned enemy of yours said that about your brother, Jim, and then a week later your brother was murdered: would you forgive the guy, just like that, when there's the possibility the guy's words set off the nut that killed your brother? I don't think you would, in those circumstances, which are what Vinnie Paul is living with. I think Phil deserves to live with his pain.

My prayers go out to both parties. God please help us to make every possible effort to love and live at peace with one another. I'm so tired of seeing people go down in flames. ...God please spare us from the power of hate. I'm sure Phil regrets every angry word. May God give comfort to Phil and Dime's family in thier time of need.

Re: Phil Anselmo speaks about Dime

Listen to the Damageplan CD to round out your theories. That disk is full of attacks on Phil. I remember when I first heard it I couldn't believe how mudch of the lyric writing was obviously about him and negative to boot.

As far as if it were my brother, I would be thinking irrationally. Does this mean we should be thinking irrationally? You could say this killer was persuaded to kill Dimebag and Vinnie for the lyrics on the album against Phil just as easy as you can point the finger to Phil's interview. Seeing that this dude was going around claiming he was going to sue Pantera for stealing his lyrics (some songs recorded when he was only 7 or 8 years old), the seed was planted long ago and the time was coming. He just waited for them to come to his area and play a place he could easily get inside of.

                    Here is the context:
                    ?**** this, all of this
Bitch and moan and bleed and piss
                    Seconds away from goin' down
                    Go ahead and push me
                    Your fakery, your butchery
Is nothing compared to my hate for you"

Re: Phil Anselmo speaks about Dime

Sounds like imitation Phil lyrics to me! In addressing why Phil shouldn't have been allowed at the funeral, yeah the family's feelings count, whether you think they were irrational or not. I doubt the guy even listened to the Damageplan lyrics, it sounds like he thought he was Phil or something. Also, Superjoint Ritual played there twice in the last 2 years and no dead Phil. Sounds like he'd listen to Phil, not Dime. We'll never know, but I'll concede that if Phil had been the one killed, his family'd have the right to keep the Abbotts away from the funeral based on the lyrics you quoted too. I guess if they made a video and said the record company made 'em write those lyrics, then they'd be off the hook? Phil needs to be a fukkin man and say, "I said that sh!tbut I never really meant it to happen, and I'm sorry for what I said". Until he says that I have zero sympathy for him, and I still think Darrell's death may be partly due to Phil's big mouth. That is no more irrational than saying it's impossible that the interview could be a factor. No one will ever know for sure, but here's a question: Say Nathan Gale had dropped the gun and been taken alive, and said the Metal Hammer interview gave him his marching orders. Would you still feel that Phil had nothing to do with Dime's death then? I'm not talking legal liability, but if we knew that Gale had "Anything I say.... Anything I say...." ringing in his ears, and that was what set him off, would you still think Phil had nothing to feel guilty about? That's the question Phil should be asking himself right now, and for the rest of his life.

Re: Phil Anselmo speaks about Dime

Gee lerx, since you seem to know more about this than anyone involved, why don't you go to the police with your theories? Or knock on Phil's door and tell him how shitty he is?

People say shit about each other, that's the way life is. This dude that shot Dimebag was a nutjob, and had been for years. He was trying to party with Dimebag earlier in the night before he killed him. Doesn't sound exactly like a cold calculating killer to me. There were a hundred other times he could have killed Dimebag if it was premeditated murder, and he could well have gotten away with it, since he wouldn't even have been a suspect. This was a distrubed, drunk **** who has no grip on reality or control over his emotions. If he was carrying out Phil's orders, he was a Marine, he's not dumb. He could have shot Dimebag from a rooftop 300 yards away and never be heard from again.

I don't know what happened and neither do you.
I don't know that Phil set him off, and you don't know that he didn't. You have the right to sympathize with the guy and I have the right to think his pain is deserved.

Some have speculated he meant to get Darrell on the bus, and that going into the venue was plan B. Also, the guy didn't own a rifle, just a handgun. I don't think you're hitting someone at 300 yards with a pistol, but then I haven't been in the USMC. Maybe you can explain how to get that accuracy wth a pistol with, I'm just going to guess, a 6" barrel or less.

i'll guarantee you this, when phil comes off heroin, he's gonna feel even worse about it. i flew home for my dad's and many friends funerals lit up, and did not shed a tear.
your system is shut down and you have no real emotion. he will feel worse as time goes by. be;ieve, he has not felt the anvil that is on it's way towards his head on this horrible tradgedy.

Of course no one on Earth can shoot a pistol 300 yards. My point is that neither of us know hat happened, and your right, there are two sides to every story. Of course you have the right to think however you do about Phil or how he should feel, and so do I. I just can't wish that kind of pain on Phil, no matter what he said to the press. He knows what he said, and he'll have to live with that the rest of his life(however many more he gets, I think he's on no. 4 right now).
