Does he have some kind of medical problem?

[/ QUOTE ]

He has been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis.

[/ QUOTE ]

and he had hip replacement surgery about a month and a half ago. tommy said in a recent interview that he thinks that they should have waited until mick was in better health, and went on to say that paul stanley just had hip replacement around the same time mick did, and paul's still walking with a cane.

sloppy playing or not, mick rules.

I thought Vince looked shockingly like crap for a guy having $80K worth of plastic surgery. He looks the exact same except bloated around the mouth area. His voice is like an octave higher now.

[/ QUOTE ]Well, they probably lipo'ed 30 pounds from under his chin and his torso. If you saw pics from a year ago he was a lot heavier than he is now. Plus those surgeons charge ridiculous money for plastic surgery procedures. They might have spent $20K on dental work. He's also probably gained back some weight since the work was done, as he has not likely stayed off the booze which can put it on,with all the sugar in it.I feel sorry for Mick, sick as he is, but maybe he wants to do it whle he can. His degenerative bone disease will only get worse and in a couple of years this would probably be impossible. Hopefully it will be possible for him to complete this tour.

Re: Motley Crue on Jay Leno

I was a huge Motley Fan back in the day, and normaly they kick ass live, but mick shouldnt even be standing right now! You have to look at it this way, they havent really been practicing much and most of the band has not played the songs in a long long time! I think once they start touring and Mick gets better the shows will get better, he just needs to get back in the groove. As for Vince he really needs to get off the booze and start working out some more!

I think with MM's condition, he shouldn't be performing right now...hope he doesn't do himself more damage than good by doing it, before being fully recovered.

Here's a link to a recent interview with Mick:

Thanks for the link, Rune. I thought they looked and sounded pretty good, actually--it's not like they were ever the biggest bunch of virtuosos on the planet. But they were pretty tight on those two songs, and Vince sounded to me a lot like he did back in the day. And he looked great compared to the last few years, when he was starting to resemble Jabba the Hut.

Apart from some difficulty in the solos, I thought that Mick did ok. Was he ever much of a wild man onstage?

Re: Motley Crue on Jay Leno

I taped the show and just watched it after reading all the comments here. I actually think they sounded great, very much like motley of old, and very much like the record. I've seen so many current bands now that don't sound live anything like the recordings (and usually are disappointing live). Mick seemed spot on with his rhythms, and those two songs are more complex rhythmically than most current alternative songs. Mick's never been famous for lead work and he usually doesn't move around much anyway, naturally now slowed down some by health.

To me the songs were very accurate to what I've heard before and remember....about a 100 times more 'true' and on-time than what I heard at the Hagar/Halen concert last August....so gotta give them that much credit IMHO...

Yah we all said the same thing - sure looked like he had some recent botax (sp?) injections - couple weeks ago on larry king - his face wasnt so puffy.

The "happy **** new year tommy" was a real laugher - tommy didnt seem like himself - they must already be fighting like cats and dogs. Mick looked horrible, but actually a bit more lively than a couple weeks ago.

I thought it was a great performance and like many others have said, Mick rules. To be in that kind of pain and go out there and play...man, he's my hero.

I liked it for the most part...tommy flubbed on the first song, and I thought vince sounded shakey, he definatley needs top drop 20lbs get into shape and and work on some breathing.....
he should get off the bottle, which over the tour will only mess with his already depleted talents....
its about time these guys bury the hatchet whether for love or money...
I have killer seats for the march milwaukee show...
though I fear it will pale incomparison to the shout at the devil /bark at the moon tour I went to in '84.
Ill have fun either way..

I saw the Live Wire tour, as well as Shout and Girls tour... The only reason I really went to see them on the Girls tour is cause my friend's cousin was singing backup for the Crue, so we got backstage passes
