anyone know what gear ROB JOHNSON uses?

I just got "encoding the soul" by magnitude nine and really like this guy tone and playing

He uses Ibanez RG seven strings and the Rocktron Voodoo Valve preamp last I knew.

I know years back, when use to see Rob around alot, he was using an ADA MP-1 preamp. I think he stopped using that along time ago though.

Oh his Guitarchitecture album he plays a 7 string Greco and a Universe. That's all I know.

Rocktron all the way.
He no longer has his Greco 7 (I know who does though) - and he recently (last year) got an Ibanez custom Universe with 3 Humbuckers made through his endorsement deal - sweet looking guitar (All black if I remember correctly).
I talk to him on email on a fairly regular basis - I can ask any specific questions...

I found the pic he emailed - Feb 25 of last year. Made in LA Custom shop, Steve Blucher custom DiMarzios according to the e-mail.

I wonder if he really needs the hum in the neck position as his music such as Magnitude CDs , there is no need of a middle pickup....

My guess would be for looks, unless he has some special split that allows some unique combinations of single coils of the middle p'up with the neck and bridge...
BTW - I forgot - he USED to used a Boogie Dual or Triple Recto before he got the rocktrom endorsement
