• Just home from Megadeth-show

Played here in Norway and finished 50 minutes ago, so this is pretty fresh...

Went on exactly two hours after the doors were announced open. I came early enough to catch two or three songs by Diamond Head. The only one I ever will know them for is that "Am I evil" song which doesn't interest me at all. Not my cup of tea.
BTW, they played Les Paul's, and had very little sound and light..

Megadeth opened with Blackmail the universe, and played six songs before Dave said anything to the audience. At first I thought he seemed a bit unmotivated and pissed, but when he talked to us for the first time he really seemed happy with everything, he even invited a person up on stage to headbang between two songs..

A few jokes, a little humoristic bragging about his playing skills and a lot of kept on through the show, then he dedicated Of mice and men to Dime.

He played three different DV8's, hurra, no Axxion's in sight. First one was a black one with a Blackmail the universe paint job. Second a regular black one and the third one a two colored one, black at the neck, then fading over to white (or silver ).
The second guitarist played a trans black ESP, exept for the peace sells painted one on Peace sells.
The bass player played a trans black LTD.
That second guitar player seemed kinda sloppy in his lead work IMO.
Sound was clear and good, but could very well been a bit louder, I have earprops anyway.
All in all a good show, 1 hour 45mins, as said seemed a little unmotivated at first, but it really growed towards the end. They played Holy Wars and Hangar 18 , only song I missed was Ashes to your mouth. I don't own Risk, Cryptic Writings or The world needs a hero, but I heard two or three songs I didn't recognize so I guess they were from those albums.
That's it I guess.
All Dave haters, STAY AWAY

I've seen Megadeth live 3 or 4 times, Dave kicked ass every time. Can't wait to see them again, the new CD is very good. Thanks for the report kruneh.

Yeah I saw them in Washington DC back in November. The show was great I thought. I thought Glen Drover's lead work was great, especially considering the task he had before him (learning Friedman's solos in about a month or so..?). As to the songs you didn't recognize, the only song from any of those 3 albums on this tour is Trust, and I'd be damned if you have never heard Trust. How did the Peace Sells guitar look btw? He hadn't had it built back when I saw them, so I've only seen pictures. Dave's gradient DV8 looked great in person I thought. He played the sunburst one at the DC gig as well.
Best concert of my life!

I've seen Megadeth 6 times now and when I saw them in November they rocked. My only problem was Glen Drover's vibrato but that can't be helped. To me Marty has the most expressive and emotive vibrato this side of Steve Vai and BB King. Marty's little quirks in his playing are what make him unique and why Megadeth will never be as great without him.

To sum up a few things.

The Peace Sells guitar looked awesome (there's picture's here on the board somewhere too). I'm not very much into graphics, but that one rocks!!
At least one of the songs I didn't know sounded really cool, Trust????
Dave's vocal was a little low in the mix, and you could here his voice was tired/throath were soar when he talked between the songs.
I'd really hoped to see the fireburst DV8, but didn't, good thing I have one of the LTD's on order then
Oh yeah, they played Black Sabbath's Paranoid, if I'm not wrong it was in the middle of Peace sells.

I've only seen them once before, they amongst others don't play here that often, so it was back in March '95. That year I served in the army, something all male's have to do in Norway. So obviously that show was the highlight of the year. Army sucks!!!!

Well, he actually told us: "if you want to come in touch with me, e-mail me, call me up or whatever". Didn't tell us his phone# though, hm... strange...

It will be the album version until Dave has the extended version taught to the guys.

When I got the rude awakening dvd, I actually thought they ruined the momentum of she-wolf by adding the long jam part to it.
I love the album version though, especially when they kick in with the harmony part at the end of it
