  • Queensryche and there gear

So anyone seen them in concert and catch what amps and guitars they are using? How is there tone sounding on this newest tour? Damn i want to see them so bad, but of course they are not coming to the Washington, DC area!

    Re: Queensryche and there gear

I couldn't see while they were playing and their stuff was behind stage props. After, I did get up close to get a quick look before getting kickout out and the only thing I could see was Mike Stones pedals. He had a bunch of mix matched pedals and a 5150 switch so I guess he's using 5150's.

Micheal Wilton's sound was dead on for every era they played from Take hold of the Flame to the new stuff. Sounded great. Mike had a little bit of a different tone going on and it was consistant through out. It was different, but it worked. The whole mix was kinda bad IMO, but that could be due to the fact that I was so close. They both used a mix of ESP's and Limiteds.

Can't wait for the new album!

Thanks, I was checking out Micheals webpage and it shows a bunch of amps, but never says exactly what he uses. I bet he uses alot of different amps. Check out his equiptment on his homepage, click on equiptment of course. http://www.michaelwilton.com/homepage.htm

I've heard he uses Dual Recto most of the time lately.

Yeah funny you say that, i have a 2005 mesa catalouge and it shows him as a player of them. I am sure he probaly still uses his old marshalls to nail some of that older tone.

Mike Stone was using Randall's. I can't remember the model, but you can replace chips inside it to get different amp sounds. Now he has an endorsement from peavey. He isn't using cabinets anymore. He routes his amps thru some POD like devive, and goes straight into the PA. He loves it. It takes about 5 minutes to set him up now. MikE Wilton uses a Mesa Dual rectifier I believe. And a pretty vast rack system, with Bradshaw switching. He has a great tone. I haven't heard Mike Stone's new sound yet except on a radio broadcast they did recentley. And it sounded great.

                  Re: Queensryche and there gear

I saw the last Sat. at the Universal Amp. Here in L.A.

Mike Stone got a passing grade. Alot of of Degarmo's Parts need the use of a Trem, and being a Fan for 20 years I missed that alot. Also, his slide part was too loud during Silent Lucitity and made the song sound like "Freebird"

Wilton popped a string and it took too long (IMO from being a tech for 10 years) to switch guitars, over 30 sec. Geoff sounded great.

                      Re: Queensryche and there gear

I saw them a year or two ago with Dream Theater. Good band. I remember their was a dude with long hair, and a bald guy with funny glasses. The hair dude played what looked like a custom blue Strat, with a floyd trem. Baldy played a black Les Paul. Didn't get a glimpse at their amps.

I just told you guys what amps they were using. Both Mike's use ESP guitars exclusively. Mike Stone used Randall amps up until a month ago. Mike Wilton uses Mesa Dual rectifiers heads, and laney cabs. Mike Stone doesn't use a cabinet on stage anymore. They have a very nice monitor system, and the speaker cabinets are not necessary. Wilton still uses one though. There guitars are all custom shop ESP's.

Mike Stone played a winter camo ESP Viper for the classic set.Wilton played a ESP Eclispe.

                            For the 2nd set "Mindcrime"

Mike Stone played 2 ESP Eclispes, hard tail one blac, one cherry sunburst.

Mike Wilton had 2 ESP Strats Both Have the Black with a bunch of skulls Graphic. They look the same from afar...But

One had a Floyd, The Other a Wilkinson Bridge
One was S-S-H and the Other was 2 Humbuckers.

ESP is making a signature model for Mike Stone! It is a collaboration with Bule(?)motorcycles.
