Dave has always been one to air dirty laundry in public. The fact of the matter is simple- It makes for publicity. Look at the VH-DLR fued for so many years. Even when the guys weren't doing anything they were always in the press mudslinging. This kept them in the public eye .
Bands are always like love affairs and marriages. It sounds so cliche to equate it to this but it is true and I've been in many bands and not one ever split on good terms and there was always trash talk ..why? Anyone in this business has a certain amount of ego and ego will always equal bullshit ..
We saw the new megadeth play @ the esp party. Pat has a lot of video footage he is trying to figure out how to make available to the fourm. All I can say is I was impressed with the new guitarist. He was great..
Marty- Dave is 100% correct as Marty walked by us out in the street that day and the first thing we noticed was his mary janes and if I recall correctly his purse.. Am I correct Todd?
Chris Poland was at NAMM and he looked good and appeared healthy ...
Bottom line is things change and I don't always agree with the trash talk but it is a part of the business to some degree

After this many years in the biz, you'd think Mustaine would have a bit thicker skin. And the new guys in the band--that kind of stuff comes with the territory. Look at all the crap Jake E. Lee had to put up with in Ozzy's band. Hell, I bet Randy caught a bit of flak early on for not being Iommi. You can't please everyone...
I can see where Dave would get mad because every time someone compares the new to the old members with the new members in a less than stellar light it's like saying "Dude, your current chick is ok, but she's way fatter and less pretty then the ex."
I'll disagree with Dave on the dissing Marty though. Marty's an artist and has to follow his muse. He's by far the most remarkable player that's every been in Megadeth and nobody will measure up to him unless Dave somehow gets Ron Jarzombeck.

What Marty wears or whom he plays with is irrelevent. Dave is bitter because Marty felt the need to move on to something else other than hate, aggression, and angst. If we're going to throw fashion into the mix, we need to address Dave dressing like he's fourteen instead of forty-three.
Well I certainly think he's right in feeling it is disrespectful to the current band .. Jake said he'd go out onstage and have people with Randy signs flipping him off ..
Germandeth- My point was simply Dave wasn't lying in the context of what he wrote .. I'm not beating up on the guy for his choice in clothes.. I am saying though that the statemtn was accurate ..

Oh, I agree. The statement is accurate. But was it necessary? Seems like it was nothing but a cheap shot directed at Marty from a guy who just recently proclaimed that he was past all the bitterness.
Maybe when Dave retires, he can get part-time work writing scripts for the WWF.
I can agree with a lot of what he said, but some is just petty. Then again, Dave always likes being Dave, because that's what the fans want to see--Dave being petty and ripping on people, because he is really funny.
Chris Poland was asked to rejoin the band several times, but always politely declined in the interest of playing his own stuff. Most people don't know he was asked to rejoin when the band was working on Rust in Peace, and again when Dave was working on The System Has Failed. Chris cut a bunch of solos on TSHF, but was busy doing his own thing and didn't feel like being a part of the touring band. Chris helped demo a bunch of stuff on RIP, and some of Marty's leads on that album show Chris' melodic influence. Just check out the bonus tracks on the remastered version and you'll see what I mean.
It's not like Dave didn't see the Marty thing coming. He even talks about it some on Rude Awakening. Jimmy even had Al in a holding pattern, waiting for the day that Marty finally called it quits. He asked Marty to rejoin the band for this tour, and Marty turned him down. To pick on the guy's choice of music and dress is just petty, but part of it probably stems from Marty telling him he didn't want to play speed metal anymore, right before he put out "Music for Speeding". Dave got really annoyed over that.
I'm sure if Gar were alive, Dave would have shit to talk about him. I can't believe he mentioned Jeff, but not Chuck, since Jeff was your basic hair metal guitarist with nothing unique or special that set him apart. If I was in the habit of talking shit like Dave, I would have had a lot crappier things to say about him.
Of course Al and Jimmy seemed a bit distracted...you treat someone like a hired gun, don't expect them to act like a band member. Just lame.

I had several friends that attended NAMM and they said hot women were coming out of the woodwork, yet you two guys are scoping out a guy with a purse.

Man, Dave's just a whiny, crybaby bitch who needs to STFU already! Did you guys see him in the Metallica movie? Man, he can't stand being "number 2" and has been chasing Metallica's success for over 20 years and still can't get over the fact he was a violent drunk who got kicked out of the band before they made it. He wishes he was given the chance to go to rehab in 1982 instead of getting kicked out. Yet, wasn't he in and out of rehab like 15 or so times through the years anyway?? Whiny little bitch that only talks shit and wants to blame other people!!!
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
