Had you actually read the Bible you'd know that God was set to destroy us all yet again due to our complete lack of obedience, when Jesus stepped up to stand in our (yes, yours and mine as well as our ancestors) places.
See, this whole thing - me, you, whatever's coming tomorrow - has already been scripted. God wrote it, it's finished, that's why He rested on the 7th day and why He's still resting (but NOT being lazy or ignoring us).
God saw well in advance the tsunami that recently went through southeast Asia, as well as the rise and fall of whatever Iraqi or wherever guvmint to come. That's what Revelations is about - the stuff that IS COMING.
Jesus saw it coming as well, and saw many people who are not the 144,000 Children of Israel who will be taken in the Rapture suffering and dying - the Gentiles. Jesus offered to walk this earth as a human and be murdered by the Church Officials to provide a "lifeboat", if you will, for those of us who are NOT directly linked to the 12 Hebrew Tribes and therefore guaranteed a free ride Home.

THAT'S the "before and after" regarding His sacrifice.

I read some of that story from Mark Twain, it makes a more believable guy out of Satan than the all-encomapssing "Boogieman" we blame everything on.

Yeah, maybe Satan chose the wrong path, but he's not for me to judge.

I am not going to argue the details of religion with you guys, like I say people's beliefs go from literal interpretation of a flawed translation to including texts that were not originally part of the Catholic Bible to Old Testament only.

I can only imagine a greater being that would create us in order to watch us mature and hope we collectively choose a peaceful coexistance.

From what I see of the world and some of the Religious - including 'Christian' folks, the actions and words of those folks does not embody the spirit of what it should be plain to see Jesus was trying to accomplish.

My interpretation is that Jesus Came to let us all know that the God of the Jews is for everyone. That ritual, subservience and mumbo-jumbo is of man, not God, and that love and compassion - not greed is the only thing that will collectively allow us to survive.

There will always be strong and weak, rich and poor. What you choose to do with the lot you are cast is important. I cannot say I choose correctly even half of the time. I actually think that Satanism and Christianity share this sentiment, but I guess I am of a minority and will be justly impuned.

Organized religion is a tool used to manipulate the weak and narrow minded, who cannot make up their own minds. Believing in God, or having faith in your cow, there is nothing wrong with that. I've got a major problem with organized religion, but not with religion as someone having faith. More along the lines of thieves and biggots, that are supposed to represent God.

Does that mean God rapes little boys, secretly is racist, and takes money from the collection bowls? I've got not a single problem with someone believing in whoever they believe, but once they try and convert me it bothers me.

I've no faith. After what I've seen in life, I've come to the conclusion, the God/Jesus Christ, the holy trinity, and santa are not real. Maybe you've seen shittier things than me, and you still have your faith, good for you.

Oh, about Head leaving Korn, he's rich now as is, he doesn't have to make munky music anymore :P

Horns you make a good point as to wonder what has changed in man's response to God prior to Jesus' life, death and resurrection, and after. We are just as evil(if not more) now as men were then. I find submitting to Christ's free gift of love is like fighting a perplexing battle each day. My flesh wants to reign. God's gift is free? But I'm my own worst enemy. So the more I go on...the more I realize the need to surrender daily. If we judge you Horns, we judge ourselves. Jesus is seeking us all out...He loves us that much. I pray we all just recieve Him, know Him and love Him back.

I've seen people who more than talk about satanic beliefs, promote satanic beliefs, blaspheme against God, name calling - in some respects that would be against the law. This is hardly Gods temple, but it is rather unsettling to read..it existed before I came onto the board, so in that respect, the vocal opponents of 'belief' were silent when the mud was already flying.

I guess it is a matter of individual law, I as a Christian try to obey the law of God, not the law of Tom, or the law of Bill or the unbeliever or of satan. Gods law, as established by Christ, I am your lord God, thou shall
not put no other before me.

I guess by defining "religious freak" that would put me somewhere in between the guy who wields the knife and beheads the innocent, Hitler and the unbeliever.

Well, in one very simplistic sentence, I do not think Hitler, David Koresh, Bin Laden, Abu Mussab al-Zarkawi or Judas, nor me, you, Bill or Lilith hold the keys to Heaven and Hell. Just a man, who as born as God in flesh gave his flesh, blood and life perfect without sin on a cross.

My issue is not with religion as a belief system, it is with the organizations that use guilt and judgement to force "their members" into servitude. Organized groups: Lutherans, Catholics, Presbyterians etc. are what turned me off to practicing my beliefs in a group setting. All churches are a quazi-governmental organizations with "elected leaders" in place to represent the needs of the members. All the leaders that I have had experience with in the church setting seem to get on the same power trip that all other "elected leaders" seem to slip into. Their agenda takes precedent and they don't care who it affects.
I do not publicly discuss my beliefs because there is no point in it. I believe what I believe and no outside influence at this point is going to change that. I do take offense at someone "preaching" their unsolicited views to me and then judging me based on mine. I went through religious schooling and have developed my beliefs on MY first hand experience. I stand fully behind the philosophy "to each his own". I do not judge Bill or Charvelguy because their beliefs and the way they practice them differ from mine and hope that eventually people will do the same for me. Like Toe Jam said hopefully this will help to make the world a better place.
