  • Question regarding Steve Vai and Crossroads

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I tried to use search and nothing came up.

Was that a Charvel he was using during the cutting heads scene? I saw the DVD last night, but I didn't buy it. I may have to now.

It was a Jackson. The logo was covered over with electrical tape, because the filmmakers thought Michael Jackson might sue them over connecting the name "Jackson" to the occult (remember the disclaimer on the Thrille video?). And no, I'm not kidding.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

Check out www.jcguitars.com and he has what is supposed to be the actual Charvel Strat Steve Vai had on a stand in the background during the "Cuttin Heads" scenes. Steve Vai sold it to Eric Johnson and it circulated and ended up with Justin at JC Guitars. Click on the Stars Guitars section. I think he details the red Jackson too.

Does anybody know if the Carvin Stack he was using was a X-100B? It kinda looks like one of the early ones.

The guitar he uses in that movie looks so badass, love that shade of red.
