So which albums(s) do you guys like?

I should say I love "Elements Part 1","Infinite" and "Vision".
Also some early stuff when Timo used to sing are killer as well.
I somehow like the way he sings.

I only own "Infinite" and "Elements Part 1" so far, and I definitely prefer "Infinite". Great songwriting, melodic solos, fantastic vocals, kicking drums, nearly nonexistant bass! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] If the bassplaying was better, we'd have a winner. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

You don't hear the Bass?
I agree on some songs but listen to the song like "Soul Of A Vagabond" on Elements Part 1, you will hear the Bass.
Also "Kiss Of Judas".

But then listen to the song like "Eagleheart", where is the Bass?

I hear the bass, but it could be a little more technical with more bass fills. The bass playing is so boring on most of the Stratovarius songs I can think of! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Stratovarius is definitely a guitar-driven band. When listening to melodic metal, I'm used to fancier bass playing that centers around the bass and drums... too much Iron Maiden has spoiled me I guess. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I agree on some of fast songs but that happens to most of the Power Metal/Prog bands.
If you have listened to all the CDs they have released, not all of them sound the same.

Wow, Stratovarius is considered prog? I don't notice a lot of time/tempo changes or anything. And I don't really listen to Dream Theater or Rush very much either.

A while back my friend let me borrow his whole Stratovarious collection for the weekend and the only songs that I liked were stratosphere and speed of light. Do any of you listen to/like the band Kamelot? They are personally my favorite Power Metal band. [img]/images/graemlins/band.gif[/img]

I don't consider them as a Prog band but listen to the album like Destiny.
It starts with a very long song with some tempo changes.
At the same time, they have some Melodic 3-4mins songs like Eagleheart, Paradise , S.O.S. and so on.

Go to Spytorrent and get all you can.
After all, you will become another huge fan of Startovarius.

I always considered Stratovarius as a power metal band. I dig them, though. I've got Infinite, Intermission, and Elements Patrs 1 & 2. I need to check out some of their older stuff as well.
