• Help me identify this guitar of Phil Collen's!

This Charvel as owned by Phil, is of great interest to me as I would like to piece together a copy of it.

Charvel

Is this a USA,Custom Shop or some production series that I just never heard of.

Any ideas as to where I can score a neck like that?

BTW the neck is simply massive. As a fan of huge necks and hugw string gauges, I firmly beieve that it contributes to the tone.

Go to www.brooksguitarworld.com . He should have info on it somewhere and if not, you can always email him ( Brooks, that is).
What has 9 arms and 10 legs? Def Leppard

I used to love gigantic strings, but gave them up when they became something of a crutch. I can't remember where I originally heard, but have generally found to be true, the advice that putting a heavier guage set on even a bad guitar will make it sound better. Whereas a good guitar will sound good even with light guage strings. Keep in mind the massive tone that guys like Tony Iommi have gotten from very light strings.

So I'm back to mediums...
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

It does look like that. I had one in that very color. It was a rounder profile, but I wouldn't have called the neck chunky by any means, though. Great guitar. I wish I had mine back, actually.

Traditionals had black PUs and two-point vintage trems, though. Not Floyds. And staggered height sperzels meant no string trees. But this one has a string tree and Floyd nut. Makes me think it might be a mod'd custom.

Hey I know that guy.....and that guitar. Hey, thats not your guitar! If only Stas knew...........

Remember Phils necks are, ad the great tech says "2 x Phil" necks...

You beat me to the post.

Cheers Brooks!

I'm starting to think that it really is a "custom" that perhaps Stas put together for Phil? Perhaps a SD body (with an added Floyd and the three HS3's) mated to a Charvel custom neck.

Oh well. Eventually one of us will simply have to ask its builder for the straight facts eh?

Thanks for the help Folks!
