Looking very forward to the new album release on April 25!

A little comment to perhaps draw in some older listeners. I generally prefer more traditional metal, and Suidakra is one of the only really modern metal bands I actually tolerate and really like. For a young guy like myself, I really don't keep up with modern metal as much as most people assume. So, there's a pretty big endorsement right there.

I was expecting cookie monster vocals for some reason. Sounds real good, though... kind of a throwback to earlier metal.

This band has always been about mixing growling vocals with clean vocals with quite a few different styles of metal thrown in, plus some acoustic guitar and keyboards. They cover a surprising amount of ground for one band. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I concur... this band is starting to grow on me. They are heavy, but not too heavy. At first i thought I was going to hear the infamous cookie monster vocals due to the script used on their name looks pretty black/death metalish, but was presently surprised when I heard Reap The Storm! This from their new album? I can't listen right now because I'm on my laptop, but I downloaded the entire thing and I was not impressed at all... Sounded horrible in comparison to their older stuff. Zzzzzzz.....

Inearthed, that's what I thought about their previous album "Signs For The Fallen" when I first heard it. Took a LONG while for it to grow on me. I actually fell asleep listening to it the first time! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

"The Arcanum" and "Emprise To Avalon" are definitely my favorite albums from them. I ALWAYS go back to these two.

Did anyone else listen to the other full songs on the link I gave? They all sound tremendously different (at least to me) so there's a lot of sonic flavor being covered and should give you sort of a good idea of what these guys do. I actually liked Signs For The Fallen right from the start. This is their first release that I've not enjoyed immediately. I remember driving to high school listening to a comp CD I made that would start off with Wartunes, then go right into Havoc. Those were the days.

Command to Charge, to me, sounds like they're trying to copy parts of other popular bands and not exactly doing a great job at it. The first song on the CD sounds to me to basically be a screamo / metalcore song. I don't particularly mind metalcore, but Suidakra's releases always had this awesome vibe to them that you can hear Suidakra in them... This one, if I didn't know any better I'd think its just some random metalcore band. When I first grabbed it, I honestly thought it was a mislabeled album.

That's very interesting that you say that. I'm anxiously awaiting the new album because it's supposed to be somewhat of a throwback to the earlier days from what I've heard and read so far. Acoustic folky songs, Celtic bagpipes, traditional flavor. Sounds like my kind of thing, mixed in with their newer modern style.

"Havoc" was rumored to be re-recorded sometime in the future. It's one of my favorite old songs. I'd highly anticipate a new version. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I'm not surprised that it sounds slightly metalcore considering two of the band members are big fans of bands like Killswitch Engage, and one of them even likes Korn and Limp Bizkit...
