I have sort of been re-discovering Gary Moore's stuff from the 80's. Although I used to play Shapes of Things in a cover band I haven't heard much since I lost Corridors of Power to a hungry cassette deck and lending out Victims of the Future to a buddy that I never saw again Anyways, I bought Victims of the Future on CD and have been listening to on the way to and from work, my god, what a great player he was/is. Shapes of things, Empty Rooms, Murder in the Skies are cool songs. That album has a couple tracks that sound like a producer pushed him towards being commercial which are not good but still have some good guitar playing in them.
There are not many players that can make the hair on the back of my neck stand up like it did when I hear the solo of Shapes of Things or get goose bumps from listening to Empty Rooms.
I know a lot of the younger players on the board may not know of him of if they do think of him from the Still got the Blues eras (which I don't care for myself, not my bag) but if you get a chance check out Gary Moore's first few solo records from the 80's. Way under rated guitar hero, Gary has it all, power, chops, taste, soul and feeling.
