Victim of the future was the first album I got when I was 13 in 1884.

Yeah, I was watching Thin Lizzy Live in Sydney '77 last night and had the same reaction. Gary tears it up on Cowboy Song and Baby Drives me crazy. I'm amazed at his natural feel, tone, and phrasing. He was an early pioneer and major influence on my playing.

I agree, he doesn't get the props he deserves.

Well, it seems he's kinda faded from the limelight with all this new explosion of music. While he gets respect in the blues community I'd say he's kinda still considered a 'rocker' playin the blues. He's made that transistion pretty well. I wouldn't say his popularity has waned too much, he still records with BB King and his new disc has Bob Daisley on bass.

You can tell Gary put ALOT of time into his honing his playing, vocals, and songwriting skills. He stays true to himself and he doesn't strike me as a pretentious player at all.

The 'back on the streets' album, I think Sykes guested on that as well?

Moore had a very powerful guitar sound and intense style in the 80's on Corridors and Victims. Some of stuff is likely overlooked (I haven't bought anything of his for a long long time) but his blues kicks butt which seems to be his focus for the last 15+ years. He doesn't seem overly concerned with selling alot of albums just staying true to what he wants to do best.

Gary's rock playing is pentatonic based . With my style a can relate to this .
He is also really aggressive which I love .
Viv Campbell of Dio etc. says Gary was his inspiration . You can tell because Viv is another aggressive player
Oh stick this in your fuse box ..... Bon Scott

I'm 17 and I just got into Gary Moore a few weeks ago, so he isn't completely forgotten. I'm not crazy about his blues stuff, but I love "Wild Frontier".

I love Gary Moore's playing. You can hear his influence on Vivian Campbell with his speed and articulation.I think that its cool that the younger guys are going back to the guys that made all of us older guys want to play in the first place!John Sykes is another that never seemed to get his props, but man he can shred.I could'nt belive all the people that jumped on the thread about Frank Marino.Another player that once you hear him,you are hooked! Can I get a AMEN! Moore and Sykes are both UNREAL! Huge influences here. I've got a bootleg of a show Gary did at the Marquee...you can hear audience chatter and a beer bottle drop and break! LOL! On there he does a completely instrumental version of "Parisienne Walkways" that is supernatural.

What if Gary did accept that Ozzy gig in 1980..

would there have been no Randy...

                              hmmmmmmmmm.....just thinkin'..

Shawn check out his latest one called "Scars"...its still based on blues (somewhat)...but its very firey!!

I have the solo intro to the end of the world nailed...I always loved shredding that one..

Funny thing is , there is a guitar solo on his 1978 G force album that sounds much like a Eruption type thing with drums and shit...everything but the tappin'..but unfortuantely for Gary his songwriting wasn't as bombastisc as Ed's at that time and he didn't dress in funny stripped clothes...

Gary Moore , Frank Marino , John Sykes , Schenker , Roth were all kickin' mucho ass before 1978...but nobody seemed to notice at the time.

I still haven't checked out Scars. Have heard a couple of the tracks, but they didn't grab me enough to go buy the album.

Have you heard the BBM album? Gary recorded that with Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker (hence "BBM" - Baker, Bruce, Moore). The tracks that I heard from Scars reminded me of BBM - excellent musos, great idea for an album, sounded like a cover band playing Cream tunes.
