I could never figure out how he could be so articulate with very light gauge strings either. I remember reading he tuned to either A or B and only used like a 52 or something for his heaviest string. [img]/images/graemlins/eek.gif[/img]

Jesus...That was sickening. On light gauge strings too? Had no clue. Was never much of a FF fan and never heard his other projects, but that was pretty damn cool. Thanks for posting those dude.

If you have a light right hand technique, a lighter-gauge string would actually probably help with speed and articulation, since there's less mass to move. Even so, my B on my 7 string is only a 56.

Yeah, when I had my 7-string, I only used a 56 on the B, too. That was fine, but I can't imagine really using anything lower than that as I think it would be too floppy. My right hand is a little more aggressive, though.

btw. anybody knows if his guitar is a 25.5" or a baritone 7 ? i know he had alder bodied custom guitars (instead of basswood) but what else?

Dino's 7 strings were baritone, 27" scale, which helps explain the string gauges...

This is true....just crazy that he uses such a light gauge tuned down to A, though if the 27" scale comment is true, then that makes more sense.
