This is a cool story...
While I was in LA visiting some chick and guitar shopping over the weekend, I remembered LOG (my favorite band) was playing their "banned from the Forum" headlining show in that cowtown. I told my date "we're going" and we headed out after calling the box office all damn day with no luck.
We arrived at 8PM and found out the place was sold out. I told her "It's a metal show, I have $400 cash in my pocket - we're getting in."
I found the head of security and told him about my problem, and he said to meet him in the back in 30 minutes - if I had cash, I was in. Cool. But, here comes Randy Blythe walking my direction.
I said "Randy, dude, I came all the way from Houston to see you guys" and explained that I've been a fan since the BTP days. We talked about a few dates they played I travelled to see - Dallas at the Ballroom, New Orleans at the House of Blues, the Engine Room in Houston - I knew my shit. I told him that we couldn't get tickets and he said to give him a few minutes.
15 minutes later he comes back with 1 comp ticket that I gave to my date, and then 10 minutes later he came back with someone that took me to will-call for my comp ticket. He posed for a picture that I'll post here as soon as my girl sends it over. He said that as a band, they have to take care of their fans.
I've never been one to get star-struck or whatever you'd call it, but I will say that meeting this guy did not disappoint. He was totally cool and hooked me up. I won't forget it.
Oh, and LOG destroyed in Pomona. Easily the best performance I've seen from them.
