just got the new guitar world. in it, there's an interview with jim root of slipknot. here's a quote:

Q: Why do you play a telecaster? That's not the kind of guitar I'd expect to see in a bank like Slipknot. And when is your Fender signature model coming out?

A: That's exactly why I play a Telecaster. Or played one. While I currently have a few flathead Showmasters in my lineup, I'm also playing the new San Dimas Charvel. I may end up doing a signature guitar with them, but it does not look like the Fender signature model will happen.

He had an awesome trans black, h/s string through soloist a while back, but I've only seen one pic of it...having someone who is in the public eye endorse Charvel has to be a good thing (they can't rely on EVH's legacy forever!)

OMG! I knew this was going to come when I saw him using Charvel strat on stage last month.
So Slipknot signature will be the next Charvel signature...
Does that mean we get all the fans of Slipknot coming to join the forum start telling us we are old??

He also used to use a Black custom shop Jackson Warrior with White bindings/string thru and no inlays on fingerboard that I thought it looked very cool.

yes, i think it's hilarious if an endorsement comes out of it because it'll drive the purists insane. the board as a whole has said that they need high profile endorsees, and an endorsement like that certainly would be high profile. the irony of the whole thing would be just too funny.

I loved the sidebar, where he talked about starting to play on Charvel Model series guitars. And - paraphrasing here - "now they're making them just like they used to".

well, at least slipknot is mildly metal...they apprecicate pointy guitars. it's a start, even though i don't like them.
