I wouldn't worry too much about it. We've weathered similar influxes before. The cool kids stick around and become a part of the community, the li'l bitches drop off after they lose interest in the more mature (read "boring") membership here.
maybe fender wants him with Charvel instead. it would give charvel prescence among the young guitar buyers. that flat head tele he was playing, that i think would hsve become his sig model, is a custom shop piece. charvel aren't cheap, but still less than a team built fender custom shop guitar.
GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I dunno, we´ve been complaining about the lack of endorsees.....but this is, like, the other extreme, why not sign Billie Joe and Tom Delonge while you´re at it

Its funny that you mentioned Billy Joe. I read an interview with Eric Johnson and he was asked who his favorite contemporary guitar players are and Billy Joe was at the top of his list. Eric stated that Billy was a great guitarist with great tone. Except for the hokey costumes (I should talk.. I am a diehard Kiss fan), Slipknot really isn't that bad of a band. IMHO, they are getting better with every record.
I thought I heard they were breaking up or soon to be done? Oh well, I guess this could be both a good and a bad thing - it is good to get the Charvel name out, but not necessarily in this way. Only time will tell...most younger guitar players can't really afford a new Charvel anyways.
I loved their first album, didn't care much for the second, though it was okay. I've only heard a couple things off the new one and thought they were decent. Maybe I should pick that up eventually.

Stone Sour which has Corey and James together is really kick ass. It is still the dropped d type stuff that Slipknot does but with less samples and BS going on.
The flathead only had a list price of 1999. (I think)...

Goodness I hate Slipknot from day one but to many good reviews I did pick up Volume 3 and it really isn't that bad by no means is it my fav disc but it is well written IMO espescially for Nu Metal... I hate the costumes I can't stand them and I never gave them a chance... If I had to see them live I would just laugh the whole time but on disc I can pretend they aren't so needy of attention

I don't know, the first time I heard Wait and Bleed, I loved it. Corey can really sing well when he wants to, as well as do the scream thing. The first album was very aggressive and angry lyrically, and I really got into it; it was very cathartic as my ex-wife and I had just split up and it was easier to cope than killing that psycho and going to jail. I think I saw them on Ozzfest one year, and saw them at the Tattoo The Earth tour at Giants Stadium. They played well, but it was weird, because they went on right after Slayer who played while it was still light out.

Yeah, Iowa I thought was kinda lame. I just couldn't get into it; though, I've not listened to it a whole lot. I still love listening to the first album once in awhile.
