• Saw King Diamond last night

Andy Laroque had probably the best live tone I have ever heard. Anyone know what he uses for an amp / cabinet on this tour?

He used a Caparison for most of the night. He switched to a custom Warlock for the encore.

He has always been one of my favorite players. He can do the slow moody solos as well as the sick shred and crazy whammy harmonies. He has it all.

Are you talking last night at BB King's in NY? I was there! I'm not a King Diamond fan although I love Andy (wore a Death shirt). I was there for Nile and Black Dahlia Murders. Both bands were amazing, althought he jerk KD fans were booing Nile. What the hell is that about, I dont boo bands I don't like at a show, if the band doesnt do it for me I go have a drink and hang otu at the bar.

I hung out with the Black Dahlia Murders guys after the show, great guys, cool as hell and I even got a pictuer with Andy Laroque (yay)!

        Yeh, usually Andy runs VS-8100s.

But, I also know he often gets his rig through the sound company and might end up getting whatever they give him, likely Marshall something or other.

I'll be seeing him on the 26th probbaly. I'll have to take a look and see if I can tell.

Damn, missed ya'll. I was at the Tuesday show. I didn't stay around for Kind Diamond, but I got to meet the dudes from Nile and Behemoth. Nergal is the goddamn man! Every famous band member I ever met gave a handshake, BSed a lil with me, but didn't seem too into talkin xcept Mike from Arch Enemy, but Nergal kept shakin my hand and talkin like he wanted to talk more. Had to let him know what a stand up guy he is too. Cple years ago they were suppose to play with Six Feet Under, but SFU canceled and the whole show was suppose to be dead, but Behemoth fuckin came down and rocked the place! Great show on Tuesday, wish I could've met up with ya'll. Goddamn Dark Tranquillity, Hypocrisy & Soilwork is next, we gotta meet up and chill.

geez, I can't believe his tone was from a Marshall. It must have had some serious mods

                    Sounds cool!

Try and meet up with the Dark Tranquillity guys, especially Mikael Stanne. He's really cool and very funny. Niklas Sudin is also awesome, I talked to him for like 15 minutes about assorted tour / post tour plans and he was very down to earth.

Re: Saw King Diamond last night

Kinda unrelated, but I e-mailed Nergal yesterday and he responded with some kind words. It's not the big things in life that move me, but the little things I appreciate more. Some guy in Poland appreciates his fans and said thank you to me, and I'm happy with just that.

Re: Saw King Diamond last night

i saw King Diamond at BB King's also. Andy's playing was great. Only problem was he bent down every time he solo'd so i couldn't see what he was doing. The real bummer was Diamond's voice was still giving him problems and he couldn't do the falsetto voice. Livia did all the falsetto vox. Diamond was really appreciative of the fans and said thx repeatedly.

Re: Saw King Diamond last night

Andy's stuff was turned backwards on the cabs at the show because of the set props so the techs would have access to the control.

I was able to get to an off limits area above the stage here at the show in Cleve, and looking down on Andys amp as they were breaking them down, it sure looked like it was a Marshall JCM DSL 2000 but I can't be positive.

Weird that he'd play that, but it was probably a rental.

Thanks for the update Cleveland....What did you think of his tone? I usually have the same likes and dislikes about tone as you when I read your posts.

mike weed was using the JSX peavey head. while i believe andy was using a AVT marshall. i say this because as they were breaking down i could only see the back of the head and it was black. none of the dsl series that i know of have black backs to them.

                              i could be wrong.

but - i will say that andy's tone was better than mike's and the whole guitar mix was a little high ended for my taste but overall it was killer and sounded good.
