Re: Mustaine...being judgemental.

It boils down to 2 shows Megadeth won't do in order to avoid playing with this band. I hardly think it's going to hurt his career.
Since when has a headliner choosing which openers they will and won't have been news?
Ron is the MAN!!!!

dave is just dave. even though i haven't bought any of his cd's in a while i still really like and respect the man and his (earlier) music. a single album like peace sells only comes along once in a very long while. people get way too worked up about this shit. who cares? the only people who should are fans of both bands that would be upset that dave aint gonna show.

I wonder if Dream Theater will be performing whole Metallica albums note-for-note on "Gigantour."

i saw dream theater a few years ago here in boston. they covered master of puppetts near the end of the show. what i could'nt understand is why would such talented musicians need sheet music on stage for a song they liked enough to cover?

I totally agree Eric, but unfortunately...most people can only see in black and white.

Mustaine needs to quit his public whining, and bitching.

As far as DT reading sheet music onstage.....It's a reason I'm not much of a DT fan anymore. The self-indulgence has gotten too far over the top. They used to play with precise technical aptitude....but they kept the feel a very big part of their songwriting process. Now the egos have taken over, and their stuff has become too technical, or robotic to have any feeling (IMO)

Exactly! Anyway, if someone's colorblind, don't they only see in black and white? BTW, I only dream in infrared.

They probably learned it earlier that day.

If you watch the documentary on the DT Live at Budokan DVD, they were still learning the Number of the Beast album the day before they were going to perform it.

I'm curious; who was using sheet music? Jorden Rudess has a digital tablet that displays music charts, but he even uses that for DT tunes.

Given the complexity of DT's music, I don't consider using a chart or two cheating, if accuracy to the original is what you're after.

IIRC, they played Battery on the Budokan dvd with Barney Greenway from Napalm Death singing... there was no sheet music.

A Christian doesn't remain an owner/worker of a liquor store, after his or her conversion...hence evidence of a changed heart, a changed attitude, a changed life.
A christian doesn't stay/remain a prostitute, theif, spouse or child abuser and etc.
IF, and thats a very big IF, Mustaine is/has potentially adopting christian values, then his heart won't be at peace with God untill he completely leaves the secular metal music scene.
Perfect example this far in seeing how it works "changed life", is Korn's guitarist who left the band and supposively the whole secular metal scene altogether.

[/ QUOTE ]
Interesting... So, you can't be a Christian and play in the secular music scene? Hmmmm. And are you actualy comparing playing music to being a "prostitute, theif, spouse or child abuser and etc."? That's definitely a different take on things.

Re: Mustaine...being judgemental.

A lot of people are struggling to see through this situation.

Get over the Christianity vs. Satanism debate. Or headliners choosing openers debate.

This is far more important. Of course Megadeth isn't pulling out from these dates. Look at it from a promoter's perspective. Are you going to let Megadeth pull out because they don't want to play with a "satanic" band? Come on, you know that Megadeth will bring you more tickets.

This situation is definitely "a big band bullying a smaller band" situation. Mustaine knows that the promoter will either drop or force Rotting Christ to drop out from those festivals. Now I don't know if its his Christianity or his fear of Rotting Christ destroying Megadeth's performance and stealing the show so to speak on their home ground... I don't know his reasoning, but there is something that Dave doesn't like with Rotting Christ and he is playing a game to get them kicked out of the festival.

And yes Dave is an asshole.

PS: I am sorry if I came off too harsh for a new member and injured anyone with this comment.

[ QUOTE ]
I think Dave's response was 100% reasonable. If he doesn't want to play with this band, it's completely within his rights, and more power to him. Whatever he has or has not done in the past is entirely irrelevant.

[/ QUOTE ]
