        There is good and bad in ALL genres of metal...I'd rather listen to an AWESOME Black metal band that a Shitty Power metal band...and visa versa..

        Talent is talent...you can't deny talent..

        I don't judge bands by themes , styles and lyrical content as long as the music and musicianship is slammin'...

            Yeah, well. Gaining knowledge of obscure bands costs money, honey. 'Cause it's hard as shit to find this kind stuff on WinMX. And as I'm trying out new stuff (new to me, anyway) here lately, I'm getting burned again like I did every time before when I got experimental in my listening.

            Just because of the Gigantour exposure, I picked up Nevermore's "Enemies of Reality" today. It fucking sucks. Pathetic song structure, wheedly scales in place of actual guitar soloes, melody and harmony choices that are just wimpy and wrong, repetitive lyrics that could've been written by a 15-year-old.

            Daron Malakian is on the cover of the new GW, so I'll give System of a Down a try next week. But if that sucks, too, then that's it. Unless somebody can point me to a good source for this stuff *FOR FREE*, I'm going back to being a closed-minded butt plug.

              Listen man , if you don't dig this style that's cool...but you can't deny the fucking talent in those bands...Nick Barker of Cradle and Dimmu is a drum god..the complex arrangements and writing is incredible..

              Until you can show me one of "your" creations that smoke these guys...then maybe you will earn some credibility...until then you are just blowing smoke outta yer skrawny ass..

                  Maybe all their other records are great. I dunno. EoR fucking sucks. Because of Dave Mustaine's long association with them, I was really hoping to enjoy it. Well, that and paying fifteen bucks for it. But was severely underwhelmed by their songs. GW razzed Ace Frehley a few months back for his lead on Love Gun, but that was a goddamn virtuoso flight of brilliance compared to some of the scalar noodling on EoR.



                  Currently listening to the sample tracks from Rotting Christ's website. Some okay rhythm work. Some overtly obvious influences here and there. They could really use a new vocalist (maybe one that speaks english). New lyrics that make a fucking lick of sense wouldn't hurt.

                  Oh, and a new name.

                      Well, whoever played it... GW ragged it because it's just a pentatonic played in order.

                      I was shocked at how bad EoR was. I heard that one Mustaine-produced Sanctuary album way back when on vinyl, but don't remember much about it. I'd never listened to Nevermore before. Probably won't again.



                      Got through the RC samples. Sounds like they hit a production values pinnacle in 1999. After that, they seem to have de-evolved somewhat.

                          I don't like the album mainly because the songs are weak, the lyrics were apparently written by some misunderstood D&D kid, and the singer sounds retarded. The guitar playing is fine, if a bit hackneyed. I don't know Jeff Loomis from Jerry Lewis, okay? Never heard of him before and don't really care.
