• Testament last night

Well, before i type anything about individual bands. Testament kicked major ass. I'm so glad i got to see the original line up play. They played all of the old songs (practice what you preach, souls of black, over the wall, into the pit etc).

Seeing Alex Skolnick in the flesh was so cool. He played a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top through two Marshall JCM 900's. Then after a few songs he broke out his red Ibanez. I didn't get the chance for autographs, but i did manage to see Alex after the show at the back of the stage and i saw Chuck Billy walking around the streets before hand.

3 of the other 4 bands were awesome. I can't remember the names of two of the bands, but they were killer, pure death metal. The guitarists played Jacksons, a RR1 in red, Warrior and a 1 humbucker, thru neck 24 fret Jackson, never seen one of them before, but it looked like a Charvel Model 5.

If you guys get the chance to see, go! you won't regret it.

Good to hear - we're playing with them in June, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the original lineup again.
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.

Louie isn't in the band, so it's technically not the original lineup. They've got John Tempesta again, who is even better.

Did he, really? I heard he wasn't coming back to the band at all, I kinda always thought he was a dick. Very cool of him if he did.

Re: Testament last night

Saw them last night in Paris, WOW...
The first time I saw them was killer, it was for the no mercy festvals, about 3 years ago, they were touring with Malevolent Creation, Marduk, Death Angel, Nuclear Assault and Die Apokaliptischen Reiter... But then I saw them during Fury Fest and they sucked, the sound was rotten hehe but they didn't seem to want to kick ass...
But last night was a blast, good spirit, good mood, great thrashing and Alex is a killer... I usually don't like when soloing gets too technical (ie sweeping/tapping) but he sure can do it right... Too bad the opening band were very disposable (to me), too generic death metal except for Susperia who were good but too much to my liking.

INTO THE PIT !

Great to read these reviews from the shows!

And even greater that they recorded for a DVD, I really wished for that to happen because I'm kinda too lazy to do the road trip to see them live.

I love Alex Skolnick's playing... He reminds me a lot of Marty Friedman, in the sense that both of them can shred like crazy, but they choose to opt for phrasing and 'fitting' the music instead of just playing as fast as they can.
