I kinda liked Creed, never was a real big fan tho, Last year I started supervising the construction of a Custom house for the parents of original Bass player Brian Marshall, so needless to say I got all the inside poop on the Creed split up and what an asshole Scott is etc..From what Brian says he and Mark are happier than they ever were with Creed and from the reactions I've seen to their live gigs it really shows when they are on stage. They are still playing pretty small venues, I guess my outlook on these guys is pretty biased so I kinda wonder what the general impression is on them.

I like their CD a lot.
It is one of my favorites from last year's releases.

They got rid of the weakest link as far as I'm concerned.

Big Alter Bridge fan here, great album. Kicks all the way through. I'ts like creed, a little heavier, minus the asshole. Just saw them a week ago at 98 Rock BFD. Tremonti is a good player, sounded great live.

I have yet to really hear this band... I hated Scott Staap with a passion his face was just too large....

Tremonti has been putting his work in with Troy Stetina so assume his guitars are more blazing on Alter Bridge than they were in Creed

Re: Alter Bridge

I just saw them last Wed. and they kicked ass. He was tearing it up on the guitar. The only thing that I didn't like is the band started playing "Stand Up and Shout" and the singer wouldn't do it! He did the first line! It was a good show, but the other 3 bands sucked.

Re: Alter Bridge

Creed was way overrated, especially Scott. Hated him. Alter Bridge are cool though, once I gave them a chance. The cd really rocks.

It always helps when your singer can carry a tune...

Alter Bridge isn't really my style, but from what little I've heard, they're definitely better than Creed.

Never really liked Scott Stapp's incessant, bullshit, Meet-Joe-Black posing so it didn't really bother me when he left. And that hair! WTF! Not one strand out of place even when he tried to headbang.

I think Alter Bridge is bretty good, Tremonti promised to sweep pick some 6 string arpeggios on the next album.

I got a copy of a CD of a band Brian is moonlighting in and producing called Head Heavy, not too bad, Also some demos from their next CD, look for a little darker, and more instrumental tracks.

Re: Alter Bridge

Mark Tremonti in my opinion is carrying on the tradition. We have been bitching about the fact that "shred is dead" and the age of the "slacker guitarist" is far from over. Over the last couple of years I have seen a bunch of younger kids in shops playing leads. I have been hit up by alot of young upstarts around here to show them leads. Alter Bridge is way ahead of what Creed ever was. I am a big Creed fan though. I lost respect for them in 02 when they canceled their tour because of the car accident. Too much controversy for me. When the first single from Alter Bridge hit the radio I was shocked. I knew that Mark Tremonti was taking lessons to learn how to play leads. I saw it in a thread on this board a while back. Not only is he playing leads, he's doing em right. He's not hiding behind a wah pedal for the most part and his leads fit the songs very well. Well structured. YES! I like Alter Bridge and I hope they continue on.

check out Tremonti's homepage, there are some vids where he shows his alt. picking, sweeping, legato etc. skills. Bretty awsome shiat.
