Re: Sweet Mick Mars guitar solo

Mick wrote some very cool riffs, yes indeed. Dr. Feelgood, Kickstart My Heart, Piece of Your Action, Looks that Kill, etc., etc. Some cool chord based stuff, which I think makes a song. But I agree with Bill, his solos SUCK ASS and are generally painful to listen to. Watch his "bluesy" section in that solo video. It sucks. I am a blues nut, I know good blues when I hear it...and I know shit. That was shit.

Bill, when Hendrix was alive, he was a shredder. The level of speed and technique just wasn't developed at that point. Guys like Lee were fast, shit..I think Lee may have been known as "The Fastest Guitarist in the World", and if you compared him to a modern shredder he would sound like a sloppy mess. Now, I am sure that there were classical guys that could play damn fast back then, and flamenco guys as well. However, they generally weren't strapping on strats and standing in front of a stack of Marshalls!!!

Mike
Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Yes Mikey...Yes!

Remember The Monkey's song "Valerie"...that was some damn fine playing on that song...I think that was a young Yngwie...he was about 2 then...I could be wrong..

Mick sounds like Mick. Can write catchy Riffs and well, though not my fave guitarist....I'll give it to him for becoming famous at beyond the age where most people sell all there stuff and get real jobs. He was no spring chicken when SATD Came out. I did some demos about 15 years ago at his old bandmates house, he had some crazy hippy pics of them. Hail the chord progression to LIVEWIRE!

The album "Motley Crue" had the baddest fukking guitar tone ever and still one of my favorite albums of all time.
I love that riff of "Smoke The Sky"
Mick ruled on that album and of course other albums too.

Crue was sooooooooooooo much better with Corabi..

and Vince Neil kicked ass with Stevens on Exposed...I LOVE Stevens playing and his godly tone on that album...second to Eddie on his first album...and that is a BOLD statement!!

OK, even though that little bastard told me to fuck off, I have to hear Stevens on that record. So, I am going to buy it...gotta hear what Bill is preaching about.

Stevens's best work ever on that album IMO.
Never cared for Vince though
I also like Atomic Playboys too.

Crue has been and always will be the original four members. John had a strong voice, but he was no motley crue singer, he defintly belonged in a different style/band.

As to Mick's playing, well obvious i am not gonna go on this again, to many single track minds on this board and i just dont feel like arguing anymore.

Mick Mars is a mere Jerry's kid in a infinite sea of mediocre shredders...

I don't argue anymore...I gave that up for lent..

I just state the facts...just the facts..

No , they are NOT opinions...just facts according to the Bill Z Bub...there's a difference..

Yeah, that album definitely kicked ass! When I first heard it, I wasn't that crazy about some of the songs, but it grew on me. And the guitar tone definitely is also bad ass!

The Corabi cd is by far thier best.Michael jackson should listen to "Uncle Jack". One of the top ten guitar sounding records ever, ever!

Vince always reminds of the drive thru at jack in the box,.......ma....ake..yo/......d..r...fr...th....at...

He's been like that since shout.I have a bootleg vid from that tour and he did way back then.

I have that entired concert downloaded, and is not a gret solo but he plays good in that concert.

If you take out vince they would be a great sounding band, BUT, then again you can't have Crue without Vince!!!
