  • Marc Bonilla EE Ticket

I just got an Ipod Photo 60gb and have been ripping my cds into it. It has been a lot of fun because I have been revisiting cds that I completely forgot about. One is Marc Bonilla's EE Ticket. Man, I forgot what an absolute monster he was. If you never heard this go buy it NOW. I have been using it to test my new Shure E2C headphones, which are pretty cool as well. Sounds great.

I got that one on tape. I remember a buddy of mine calling me asking who Marc was.He had watched a lame skater movie and in a chase scene they used one of Bonila's songs. We went out and got the matador cd.Troy Lukketta of TESLA plays drums on the first two cd's.I think marc is a bay area guy.

I have to check and see if I have American Matador at home. If not, I will be buying it. Anyone know what he is up to these days?

          Re: Marc Bonilla EE Ticket

Marc lives in L.A. Personally, I didn't care for American Matador as much as EE Ticket, which I still think is a masterpiece. Sort of Satriani-like, but with a *lot* more variety and great humor--largely thanks to the incredible production work by the late Kevin Gilbert. Matador didn't seem as inspired to me, though there are some standout tracks. Good luck finding a copy that one, though--you'll probably have to go on eBay, as it's been out of print for years.

Marc has a local L.A. band, I believe (though I don't know anything more about it), but I think he has moved heavily into production work. He helped out on Glenn Hughes' 1999 album "The Way It Is", where he did keyboard, guitar, and production work, though not on the entire album.

              Re: Marc Bonilla EE Ticket

I also heard he's writing for movies.

Interesting, I felt that way about EE Ticket. I rarely listen to it, maybe I'll give it another listen later after I see Star Wars. Matador has my all-time favorite cover of a Beatles tune. His version of I Am The Walrus is pure genius.

I see American Matador in several used CD shops. Half.com may have both.

Yep, Marc is doing movie-work. I have a Guitar Player (te Clint Eastwood cover) that has some interviews with guitarists in the movies scene. At that time Marc played Yamaha Pacificas.
I really liked that two albums, but EE Ticket was my fav of those two.
