    I have the new DT...I put it on once or twice...there are some cool solos on it..but nothing really grabbed me...there was a few decent moments if I remember right..

    I have a ton of Prog Metal...but it not what I usually love to listen to..


    I hate the new Fates Warning "FX"...that sucks...what the hell...it sounds like they're not even trying...and when they do ehhhh...ahhhhh fuggum!!!!! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

    Nirvana along with "Rap Metal" and that Nu bullshit ...killed it for the once high and mighty metal band..for well over a decade.

    so they had to "re-invent" themselves in a feeble attempt to fit in , and falling on their asses big time in the process...and looking like dicks like Metallica , Megadeth or QR for that matter..Halford did it too.. [img]/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

    just about every band was searching for a identity except for Iron Maiden , AC / DC and ...Morbid Angel. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

      about prog, Reb Beach is working with Doug Pinnick (King's X) and Kip Winger is helping them to arrange some stuff.
      I think it will sound cool because I've always loved Reb's playing and King's X stuff.
      IMO King's X is so underrated, they are so talented guys, instead of the usual prog 11/16 rhythms and other weird shit, they wrote really good songs, kinda 80's heavy rock meets The Beatles. I love that stuff.

        I'm an old Kings X fan...from when WGGTN just came out...I like everything up to Ear Candy...then they lost me.

        just like the rest of the bands that was searching for an identity...in a unfriendly world that hated rock and metal..

          You know, I never got into Kings X. Two of my good friends love them and would always play their CDs at parties and stuff. They are a great band with good songs but they just didn't "grab" me enough to go buy their CDs. Wierd, because I'm a prog fan - Rush is my all-time favorite band, DT, QR, old Yes, etc.

              I too, lost interest after DeGarmo left. They haven't been the same since Empire. And even Empire took a while to grow on me, as did Mindcrime when it first came out. It literally took me a week to get into the storyline, and follow it through, then I couldn't stop listening to it.
              I am (mildly) excited to hear the followup to Mindcrime coming soon though. I hear DeGarmo has some writing and playing on this as well.

                My Balls...both of 'em where pumped to know that Degarmo was returning to the Ryche on "Tribe" ...just to be let down more than ever when I heard it...Degarmo was NOT the saving grace that I was hoping for..

                John saw these guys just a few days ago...they were tight as hell with the classics...how can you play all that old cool stuff that EVERYONE wants to hear...then go into the pathetically , gay material...can't they tell there is a big difference in crowd response and also executing those well crafted songs to the very GAY bs the been doing for the last 15 years...are they that fucking stupid...the answer is clear...yes , they are.

                I'd wish they get a clue...or hang it up!

                    Actually I like hear and now and promised land. Not heavy but I dig the songs. Definitely mellow but good for being really out there and banging my chick. Dreamy kind of shit.


                    I saw Queensryche with Dio Holy Diver all they had was the ep both the guys I went with have now passed away. Also saw them with Kiss( I think).

                      HITN has much fewer moments..

                      Tribe has NO moments..

                        Promised Land is worth owning imo.

                        Rage for Order is killer. It has some really haunting melodies all over the place. Great CD!

                        And like the others said Warning is great...

                                I was just listening to Rage for Order as I opened this thread. Man I wish they'd go back to the old stuff.
