Re: Daize Shayn, music is too poppy, but she is ho

Chuck, you know most of the producers and songwriters in the pop music are some old rock dudes who earn a lot of money by doing that. Cool job ehh.
The guitar player in Bryan Adams band, don't remember his name right now, co-wrote almost all the songs for Britney's 3-rd album. This guy is really a monster player. Almost as good as David Gilmour. Ya know he is one of the Marty Friedman's favourtie players. And if you listen really carefully Britney's songs, then some of them are REALLY REALLY good. If you put some heavy guitars on them, then you'll have a killer rock tune.

Re: Daize Shayn, music is too poppy, but she is ho

I don't hate pop musicians. I hate all the people that buy the records, thus justifying their career, and the record industry's effort to find people to fit the mold. Britney wouldn't be a big deal if people decided not to buy her albums.

If anything, the pop music fans are the close-minded audience, since all they want to do is listen to their bland, recycled drival. Turn on a pop station, and it just like Headbanger's Ball. Every song sounds like it was done in Fruity Loops with the same drum samples, keyboard hits, and bass drops.

I'm still listening to Headbanger's Ball over that pop station, though. It may all sound the same, but at least it takes talent to play an instrument. It takes no talent to do this shit. If I want to listen to some mellow music that isn't about rage, I've got some Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan CDs. Great songwriting, excellent playing, meaningful lyrics, and wonderful music.

Actually I like Britney Don't kill me
I didn't care about her music before, but after the song Toxic her stuff is bretty cool.
And if you are compare her stuff with other similar artists she is a GENIUS. J-lo, Acquilera, and all that r'n'b shit is soo fuggin' lame, every song sounds the same. But Britney is progressive But then again, I like muic that normal rock fans don't

^^^Correction, the multi-billion dollar high-shot producers and writers that control every note associated with Britney are progressive, if that is what you like to call it. The music industry can make ANY artist they want big, they'll hype it and chingching goes the register!

As to the lyrics, lets just say i have heard worse lyrics in alot of metal songs, example right now i am watching Ace's rock soilders video!

Yea, but when you have loved and lost like Ace has it makes for an easier pill to swallow (so to speak).

Re: Daize Shayn, music is too poppy, but she is ho

To the people that run the music business, music is a product--nothing more, nothing less.

And it is a lot easier to sell a product that is attractively packaged. In fact, it's probably more difficult to find "attractively packaged" musicians than it is to find guys who can shred at 250bpm without breaking a sweat.

Unfortunately, all too often in the music industry these days, the 'attractive package' IS the product, but ultimately, that's an easier and more reliable commodity to sell, isn't it? To try and sell music on its own merits is a risky proposition, but sex (or sex appeal) always sells. As such, I don't condemn the people who are in that business--they're just makin' a living.

However, while sex appeal sells immediately, quality music is ultimately what endures. Artists who achieve longevity do so because they write/perform appealing music, not because of their hot bods.

Here's another thought: despite all of the 'purity' of the underground metal scene, you don't see too many fat guys in metal bands, do you? I'm sure 'attractive packaging' has nothing to do with it whatsoever... And no, I'm not fat...just old!

Re: Daize Shayn, music is too poppy, but she is ho

See what some of you guys fail to see is, that YOU MAY not like pop, however millions of people do! Pop music does not suck, it is just not YOUR style. I havent figured out what is worse, pop people that bash metal, or metal people that bash pop! If you dont like a style of music just flat out say you dont like that style, but dont say it sucks, it is crap etc... all that makes you is dumb and ignorant and not open minded.

Chuck, The chick writes and plays her own music, that is my point. Also please note my previous posts where i say I DONT LIKE her music. I just appreciate that there is a chick out there writting/co-writting and playing her own music.

Yes she started out as a surfer, but read up on her, she is also a musician, there have been other actors/ahtletes that have also go this same directions. Yes alot of them have no talent and are just riding off there fame, but occasionaly there is a breakout one, example, even though i dont like his music (do like his new song though) would be Jack Johnson. He has a good voice and plays guitar and has that whole Dave Mathews style music vibe going on.

This chick does have talent, she can sing and play her own guitar, yeah she may have got a push by her star status as a surfer. Like i said, i dont like her music, but i can see the pop appeal and i can guarentee there will be alot of people that will dig it!

Endrik, I also like some of Britneys music, not all of it though, and she may not have the talent to write her own music, she does have a talent in singing and dancing so that makes here an artist that i have some respect for. Now as for her attitude, i put her right up there with Fred Durst in saying they both need reality checks, there shit does stink and they need to stop rebelling against everything!

To add, yes even metal bands suffer, i am fat and have been turned down by bands before because "I didnt have the right image".

Also the sad thing is MTV dictates alot of what is popular these days, yeah the music is catchy and that is why the masses likes it after MTV shoves it down your throat. The sad thing is that latley it seems MTV is pushing underage girls as the new thing. Examples being JoJo, Hillary, Lindsey and many more.

It would be cool if more people are open-minded.
Being a pop artist isn't easy. They don't have to practice alt. picking excersises on phrygian dominant, but they have to work hard on dancing and all that stuff. I'm not a dancer, I can't to it, and I don't care about it, but it is a VERY HARD to be a pro-dancer.
