        First of all, if BB King offends you, I can't understand that for a minute. BB King is a legend, and for good reason...he kills. He can do more with two notes than most guys can do with 50. I have seen BB up close and personal, and he is amazing. Want to talk about tone and vibrato...BB is a monster in both departments.

        Neil Young, OK...catch my comment way up above. He is a shit guitar player, but he can write great songs. Again, Neil probably left more talent in the toilet last night than Head has in his entire body.

        And yes, I know it is the PENTATONIC scale. I don't need the spelling lesson every time I drop a letter by accident. [img]/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] And by the way, it is spelled OCTAVE, Webster.

        I am aware BB is legend. The 'thrill is gone' is a classic as are others..the guy has a great attitude and is a great writer.. I guess I view it from my perpsective I had in my twenties...I didn't see the appeal as much as I do now. Course this was waaay before the new blues explosion and Stevie,. etc..Johnny Winter was heavily BB influenced and Johnny is one of my favorite players.

          ANd I have seen Johhny 4 times live, all at Tip's in New Orleans. He is awesome up close, and a bit scary as well!! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

          I have an old B.B. live CD, it is part of the King Biscuit Flower Hour series. It is from 1978. Johnny and Edgar both play on it with BB. Johnny is completely overwhelmed that he is playing with BB, who was a major factor in his decision to gut it out with the guitar.

          BB also has George Benson come up on stage. For close to 15 minutes they play together. George is is wailing away..and then BB finally comes in and mops the stage with him. His tone, HUGE, his choice of notes...perfection...the amount of notes he plays, not many. BB only needs 5 or 6, and he can kill anyone.

            I like BB just for the fact that he's real and humble yet..very aware of a his style, what it can do and how it can effect or touch people. Kinda like the guitar playing Barry White. George Benson is still a monster IMO. I'd love to see BB play a smaller venue in the south from that time period. I still think of a story I read where his sidemen had to teach him the theory behind I-IV-V 12 bar blues because he did everything by ear. Blues is an element you have to be immersed into, then live it standing on your pedestal built from of ones own sweat, blood etc...
