  • Blues Saraceno...a monster I totally forgot about

While I was trying to decide on a new pickup for my DK2, the Blues Saraceno model was suggested to me over at the SD site. While investigating the pickup, I got re-aquainted with Blues. I first heard him on a compilation disc that was produced by Guitar for the Practicing Musician in the late '80s. I subsequently bought Never Look Back and Plaid. Those CDs were stolen when my car was stolen some time ago...and I kinda forgot about Blues. I went over to his website, www.bluessaraceno.com and listened to clips from the albums and was, again, totally blown away. He just had the chops, the tone, attitude..the dude had it all. And, let's not forget that he was something like 15-16 when he recorded Never Look Back. Guys here were going nuts over the video of that 13 year old shredder, and Blues was out there with a full package of talent and ability at basically the same age.

I am sure he has fans here, however, if you don't know his stuff, check out his website.

yep, didn't he replace Ritchie Kotzen???

I bet he killed in Poison!! I have never heard that record with him on it. For me, Never Look Back stands out. I need to get it again and start learning some of it. It is hard to find...not in release anymore.

Great player. I have "Hairpick" and I like it a lot. Didn't he do a Cream thing a few years ago with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker?

Blues is awesome!! Ever since GFTPM sent the floppy record revealing the answer to the question that appeared several times in several editions... "Who is Blues?" I've been a fan. I've got all of his albums, even TransmissionOK!!

Yes, Blues and Dweezil worked together quite extensively. They have both appeared on each other's albums.

Dimebag was also a huge Blues fan. He was quoted as saying about Blues, "He's so good you just want to punch him!!" He also backed it up by getting the album cover of "Plaid" tattoed on one of his legs.
