        Cool solo - Dime was one of the good ones.

        Bill, cool track man. My fave has always been that one of you and John shredding in a basement or something. That tune had great solos and a killer riff. You still have that? I can't remember the name of it. [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

                  great stuff horns... can't really hear the dime influence [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] but the tone is close [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] you sayin you can't hold a candle to him... put's it into perspective on how good he was!                     That song was fucking awesome Bill!

                    All It needs now is the singer going into a hellish superscream like old Halford and then the thing kicks into overdrive and goes full on on the fast riffing and then a lightning solo comes in!

                      Im not an expert on Dimes playing but I have most of the Pantera albums. I can definitely hear Dime in your playing!! That Wah tone was just like Dime!

                        Well thanks bro...I know this is a "Dime" thread...and I only posted that ...well to show that I'm not just blowin' smoke...I just came from the same school as Darrel...like so many others.

                        I agree with everything you said...but that is just a lousy 4trk tape...just something we used to draft a tune...I didn't have any tracks for any solos unfortunately...I had to share the vocals track when TY wasn't singing...there is two songs on my thread..and on the JMP-1 thread...because I used a JMP-1 for the the second guitar and solo....I think that JMP-1 and that wah...kinda captured that "DIME" vibe...a lot of people told me that....and I felt so honored to hear that.

                        as far as the Halford sceams ,,,Oh helllll yes!!!!!...Ty Cook...my boy does that BIG TIME in Father Felon...It kicks ass...but I haven't posted it ....just these two..there is actually 4 tunes on the demo and a guitar solo I call "corruption"...funny thing is is sounds kinda like the Dime one that is posted here..that is all I was saying man...I LOVED DIME!!!!!

                        well , anyone that can play guitar and are about my age like Dime was ...we all sounded like that...we were just Eddie Van Halen hacks to be honest...we all did our own spin on what Ed did...this is so true...That's what I did...that's what Dime did...and 1000s of others did..

                        Too bad he was killed for just being who he was..I think it is just so sad...SO SAD...because that could be anyone of us...even if we are NOT famous or whatever...some drunken assfuck would do that if they didn't like a song you played or whatever...I had assholes start fights with me when I was playing out over the stupidest BS...what a shame that the world is contaminated with that kinda scum..

                        I wished that every piece of shit would be exterminated..the world would be a utopia and Dime would still be here ...shredding his ass off..like he should be.

                        The way I see it...about 1 out of 5 people is a piece of shit in my book...and they should not exist...they are genereations of happless mistakes making more hapless mistakes...it never ends...and the decent people have to pick up the tab and deal with all thier drama , violent bullshit...man I HATE people!

                        I fuckin Hate them so much...for this very reason...human pollution...that is all they are to me...human pollution!

                        It wouldn't be as bad if Dime died like Oliva ..or Randy...because those were just very tragic accidents...Dime was slaughtered ..FOR NO REASON!!!

                        Dime was one of THE greats...that's for sure...and I know of all the greats...and he was amoung the elite in my book...the elite!

                            When Damageplan opened for Slayer here last year, Dime was given five minutes alone(not a pun) with his guitar on stage and he just smoked. You could hear every influence in his playing - EVH, Randy, Marino, Schenker, Nugent. Yet, he sounded like none of those guys. Prior to the solo spot, Pat yelled, "Congratulations, you have just won a free guitar lesson from Dimebag." It was incredible, man. Dime's sound was never my favorite, but he could really play and you always knew it was him.

                            I always liked the solos he played on those Anthrax tunes - it always sounded like he was playing a little more freely than on the Pantera stuff. It is such a tragedy that he is gone.

                              I don't have "heroes"...because I don't need them..

                              But he is close to a heroe as you can get with me...amoung other greats..like eddie and Randy and Zakk...he's in that company..

                              Uli Roth is my favorite guitarist of all time...Dime is in that company as far as I'm concerned...no matter how AWESOME Uli is...he can't "do" what Dime did...

                              I'm feeling quite bad right now thinking about it to be honest.. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
