Oh well. He was one of the big reasons I started playing guitar, too, but hasn't done anything worthwhile to me in a long time.

it's hard to stop your vices. the first thing i did when i got out of the hospital when i over dosed was do another shot and light a smoke. i think the cigarettes are harder than the heroin was.cameltoe, but i see how it would be frustrating for you , being a big fan of his and wanting him to succeed again. i just understand his behavior all too well.

Eh, I guess it's hard for some people, but my dad smoked for a very long time, wound up going to the hospital about 6 years ago for a routine stress test... he couldn't leave because his arteries were so clogged and he wound up undergoing a quadruple bypass! He had no urge to ever smoke again. You'd figure if Eddie had tongue cancer, that he'd not want to go back to doing what probably gave him the cancer in the first place.

Smoking cigarettes is actually harder to put down than Heroin. Nicotine creates a physical and psychological dependance that is one of the strongest of all psychoactive drugs. It is also something you dose yourself with on a constant basis, in public...in social sitiations, at home..whenever. This establishes a tie to cigarettes that is virtually impossible to sever.

I spent almost three years working in the trenches of the tobacco litigation. I read and discovered documents that simply blew my mind. I also was able to quit smoking for almost 6 years. Of course, my divorce derailed that and it has been an on off battle since.

I gave up hope for a VH with Dave album and tour. Eddie self-destructed as a human being. He still can play though and he can get back at it if he choses to do so, problem is he wont [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Ok,people...Look at this objectively....VH opened for Sabbath which led to Ozzy's exit....Ozzy went to L.A. looking for a guitar player because Eddie blew Sabbath off the stage every night.Without Eddie,we would not have the pleasure of the Randy Rhoads and Ozzy history,and henceforth no Jackson guitars and no JCFonline....So if anything we have Eddie to thank for this forum,our beloved axes,and many years of inspirational and innovative playing.Many have blazed the trails,and now produce little more than puffs of smoke,but the paths they have raized will be forever carved in history,there for new generations to rediscover the glories of the past....Currently valid,maybe not...but a driving force none the less..But then none of us have walked in their shoes,so we can only postulate as to the tribulations they have endured...Heroes come,heroes go...Each generation creates their own...It is up to the senior generation to see that the younger knows where the true sources lie...

OK it is time for you all to know the truth, here is why eddie went back to drinking. One night Eddie and i were just chillen and i told him i could outplay him with one arm behind my back. Of course Eddie with his ego didnt believe me, so we both plug in and he ties my right arm behind my back, now with just my left hand and my mouth i tore him up.

By the end of the night he was crying and drinking and very depressed. I am sorry guys i forced one of your legends back into drinking, but someone had to knock him down.

Now if you believe this bullshit i have a few bridges in NY i am willing to sell you cheap! But serious i was never a big fan of Eddie, i always respected his playing, but my influences were more of Jake E. Lee and Mr. Scary, and for the warmer side i loved Mick Mars feel.

I do hope he pulls his shit together, not just for himself, but for family and all the people that do look up to him, not to mention they are one band i have never seen in concert, but i have seen them in concert on TV and they were awesome.

As to Eddie being a washout, has been etc... All i have to say is out of all the 80's bands Van Halen was one of the very few band that kept going through the 90's with hits after the metal scene burned out. Actually i really cant think of any other band besides Ozzy and Van Halen that had radio hits after metal burned away.

Personaly i think if Eddie's ego did not get in the way, and he would get off the booze then Van Halen could come back and start writting some more hits. Just dont judge him, from what i understand he took the divorce bad, hell i would probly drink myself stupid too if i lost Valerie!
