    I had a blast playing "I'm On Fire" last night for 3 hours. I went to bed with a huge smile...because it is so fucking fun to play something and actually sound like EVH...not to mention the fact that playing VH tunes is just FUN, period.

      It would be cool if he were to get his shit together and come back with some great tunes, but I won't hold my breath. And I could give a rat's ass if DLR comes back. DLR was a good poser/performer/showman, but his voice wasn't all that great. Sammy was a much better singer/songwriter, IMO. Hell, I actually didn't mind Gary, but 3 was a crappy album written by Eddie.
      Maybe Patty Smythe should have taken the gig when she was offered before Sammy. Things might be very different today.

        Like I said earlier Eddie signs these endorsement contracts and sits on his ass and rakes in the bucks. True Eddie doesn't owe us shit, and thats just the way it is. I still get a thrill out of playing his stuff, and have nothing but respect for what he accomplished. (now the hard part) If you really want to make a statement of how pissed you are at him, quit buying the products he endorses. god knows what his cut of a striped Charvel is. A good dose of cash flow slowdown might do a hell of alot of good.

          the first 4 vh albums just may be this country's finest hard rock issue of all time. no other band makes me want to get plastered and laid like the old vh, the only vh that is.

              DLR was the best frontman rock and roll has ever seen. Sammy was a dork in red parachute pants and matching headband.

              Van Halen isn't Van Halen without DLR. If DLR wasn't such a tool, and Eddie didn't have so many problems with him....they might have been able to pull it together after the greatest hits record.

              The one reunion the rock world wants more than any is VH with DLR. Every show, sold out. Stadiums packed. That would be the result...unlike their last tour where you could buy tickets at the box office the night of the show.

                  the 2 songs they did on the best of album rocked. it was like they never lost a bit of their writing chemistry.
                  me wise magic and can't get this stuff no more are solid tunes in my book.

                      Precisely...and I heard them today, actually. With minor exceptions..they blew every VH tune with Sammy away.

                            Without a doubt... Sammy was better technically speaking but Dave was the man. I actually prefer Skyscraper over anything done with Sammy
