Oh I can confirm that Ambulance story...check this out...I used to be a NYC Paramedic at a NYC hospital in the Bronx, NY 15 years ago. I still keep in touch with the people there. I popped in one day and David Lee Roth was riding as a student EMT but at some point he hurt is back lifting some obese patient that really didn't need an ambulance. It turns out that David Lee Roth's father is supposedly a surgeon and that Dave had always had a little interest in the medical field due to family ties. I will get the pictures of him there and scan thenm when I get a chance.As far as I know he hasn't returned since that injury.

DLR's father is/was actually a brain surgen out in Ca. Dave grew up in an estate called Rothwood.

just think of all the guys you knew that were struggling, and then you stumble on to a singer who lives in an estate...

yeah that musta sucked.

it's no wonder dave had the PA that the van halen guys used to rent.

Regarding Ed always talking the "yeah I started that, now everyone's stealing it" or "I was the first one to do..." - Mustaine's the same way. Read the interviews where they offer their opinion on other/new players and they both seem like they're whining about being influential [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Ed seemed to actually be offended that others were tapping and using single-hum guitars, Floyds, Marshalls, Drop D, and Variacs.
And let's not even mention the EVH graphics lawsuits [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Dave always seemed to slam players who used the "reversed chords" he claimed to have invented with Hetfield (upside down power chords like in Orion or Holy Wars).
I guess he can't play War Pigs properly, then [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Apparently these two don't realise that they've influenced other players, and take the idea of being influential as "being ripped off" [img]/images/graemlins/brow.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I figured if I was in New York and needed an ambulance and Diamond Dave showed up....the possibilities would be endless.

I mean, the lines from "Somebody Get Me a Doctor" would provide enough fodder to play with Dave for the whole ride!!!

Mustaines beef is that he came up with that style of playing, and then after he got the boot, the next three albums used that style on almost all the songs... So it just adds to his complex of being in Metallicas shadow. I personally didnt really care for any metalica after AJFA. And I like all the stuff that Mustaine has done, yes even Risk and MD45...

As far as VH goes, I think they're done. Well, maybe if EVH needs the money, he'll stagger out onto the stage with them again, but I don't get the impression that he's yet reached the "sick and tired of being sick and tired" stage.

EVH is a musical genius, an innovator and the firebrand that got most of the music people on this board enjoy, started. He just needs to clean his life up a bit and get back on track. Yes, he has a huge ego....but it is not well deserved.

Don't disrespect the guy, have some understanding.

Eddie hasn't done a damn thing since the first few albums, other than drink beer and run his mouth. I'll have some respect for Eddie when he has some respect for himself. Hasn't he released the same album four times now?

I don't mean to disrespect him--the guy's an innovator, without a doubt. But the kind of attitude he has shown over the years may have a little to do with why he has become a washout, while many other artists we love, such as Iommi and Judas Priest, are still kickin' it. Hell, I doubt Randy Rhoads would be sitting around grumbling about how everybody "stole his stuff"--he'd be wowing us with some new stuff.
