I got into these guys last year, only have one cd so far, Recreation Day, and I love it. I just picked up their live dvd, A Night To Remember, and it's incredible! A must have for fans of melodic Swedish metal. They play Caparison guitars and have an endorsement, and disc 2 has lots of cool interviews, backstage and studio footage and a breakdown of their gear. Re: Any Evergrey fans?
I've been a fan ever since The Dark Discovery. I had to buy it off of ebay from some dude in Germany (no American distribution at the time) but it was worth every penny. Their latest efforts haven't really settled with me as well as their earlier ones but they have definitely upped the technical level of their music, and improved the soloing quite a bit. Englund's vocals have also improved considerably and they're much better at writing ballads now too. I really want to see that DVD, I've heard good things about it.
The best part of all is when I saw them play a while back with Iced Earth and Children of Bodom I met up with Tom and Jonas after they finished playing and spoke with them both. After I told Tom that I'd been a fan since the first album he shook my hand and said thank you and told me he appreciated the support (that is a rarity with most signed / touring bands). I told Jonas that it was bad ass that he was headbanging while playing drums and he said that he was glad someone noticed because he always thought drummers never do anything when they play. We went on to discuss headbanging.. How's that for a metal conversation?

Re: Any Evergrey fans?
I totally dig em. I've met Henrich (the guitarist, forgot how to spell his name) and he was the coolest, most down to earth guy. He was actually buying an Ibanez bass for Daniel Burgstrum (sp? I think he produced many swedish metal acts including In Flames). I've been looking for the DVD everywhere and can't find it. Didn't wanna wait for shipping, but gonna prob hit up Amazon soon.

Re: Any Evergrey fans?
Yeah, I'll be picking up the rest of their cds eventually. The dvd is great and really shows how cool and down to earth the guys are. They're supposed to have Caparison make them some 7-strings, too.
Seems Tom was originally just the guitar player and after their demo the singer left and someone just told Tom to sing. He only did backing vocals and little stuff before, but his wife, Carina, encouraged him to start taking lessons to sing. Carina is actually a very good singer and does all the female voices on their albums as well as on the dvd performances with two other backup singers, and there's even an orchestra for some stuff.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

They manage to irk the best tone i've ever heard come from a 5150.

Ain't that the truth! They also use Tech 21 stuff, probably some kind of SansAmp.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Re: Any Evergrey fans?
When I talked to him he said he uses 5150 for rhythms and a Mashall (don't think he said which) for leads. That's his live setup anyway, in the studio I think it says on the site he uses a Triaxis. That would be the most badass thing if Caparison came out with a 7 string. Does it show their gear/guitars on the DVD?

Re: Any Evergrey fans?
Cool guys and GREAT to party with (do NOT try to keep up with them). Their set-up is a 5150 with a Tube screamer (and Boss noise gate in front) when they played live at Progpower. Their usual rig they use that or a JCM 900, though they had a Randall endorsement at one point. The previous few CD's (PP2) they were using Peavey TubeFX and a TC Electronic G Major...
Live, they use 4 different tunings.. keeps the tech REAL busy
