I saw him play that during a show NAMM weekend. I thought his tone was pure poop.

i would assume with that single coil he is not getting the lynch tone we know and love. Hell Tele's are usually more in country music, Um maybe him and James and Mr Keel are gonna start that country band together! (LOL)

George played that Esquire almost all of NAMM weekend. He had a piece of paper with ESP written on it over the logo.

Which was funny as hell He tore it up and a smile comes to my face thinking of Nuno now "George would you shut the fuck up"

Re: George Lynch in Portland - playing a .........

I saw him at NAMM twice and his tone was more Lynch Mob than Dokken. His rig is really stripped down, eh? Just goes to show that when you're as good a player as George, you don't need alot of gear to make you sound great.

Great pics, thanks! Yeah, the only thing I recognize on that board is the Budda wah. What's up with the cig? I thought he was all mr. healthy, working out dude now?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think (from left to right) his pedal board consists of:

Budda Wah Pedal

The Time-Machine Boost (see these on ebay every once in a while)..They make a GL Model
http://www.timemachineboost.com/

The homemade box-pedal says "Deja Vibe", no idea...

The next one (I think) is a Mutron Octave Divider/Ring Modulator (Think Wolf Hoffman of Accept...Also used in the intro of "Heaven Comes Down" on Tooth and Nail.)

Finally, I think the purple one is the Line 6 Modulator effects pedal (contains, rotary vibe, flange, phaser, etc)

Cool shots...Surprised to see him smoking though.

George rules!

Re: George Lynch in Portland - playing a .........

The Deja Vibe is made by Fulltone, the purple Line 6 pedal is the FM4 filter modeler. It does all kinds of whacky things like ring modulation and Mutron sounds.

In case anyone was wondering... the bass player standing behind George in the pics is Rob DeLuca, formerly of Spread Eagle.

Hey Toru -

Actually Jason Wallis ( who was standing right next to me...) shot these with his bad ass camera. He's got a few more good ones too. But yeah - we were about three feet from him all night - just mental.

George had a 68' and a 72' plexi up on stage - ran through the 72' all night, both had 4x12's turned around so as not to kill the front.

Couple of answers to questions asked - pedals were Buddah Wah > Lynch TMB > the prototype of the Fulltone Deja Vibe > Mutron phase shifter > and a Line 6 thingy....he had his vintage echoplex's behing his amp along with an Ultimate Attenuator.

Lynch's tone was PURE SCREAMING LYNCH no single pickup handicap there. Word is the Tele was a gift from none other than Billy Gibbons

Best $10 I've spent this year. I actually got to talk with Lynch for about a 1/2 hour earlier in the day - he did an instore at Apple Music with all of about 8 guys who showed up (the same 8 were at the show too). He is a consumate gearhead and loves to talk about amps more than anything. Said the Mojave Peacemaker is killer, but waaay too loud - he's going for a Scorpion with Power Dampening. His Randall amp will be out next month....in the end though, his quote was "nothing beats an old Marshall though..."

I mentioned he's come full circle hooking up with Randall again and he just grinned and said " well, with Dime passing, somebody needed to carry the torch..." I then mentioned all he had to do was hook up with Charvel and the planets would re-align. He just smiled

I'm still tripping on how killer his playing was. George is 50 and was kicking his bands ass making them keep up

I gotta go - need to put my Tele back together

wow, awesome pics!! I love George Lynch's playing and have been a fan since the early Dokken days. that Esquire is killer! am I seeing things or does it appear to have been refretted with medium jumbos? those don't look like the typical thin Fender frets.

very cool how he likes the warm tones of the vintage instruments as well as the rodded stuff.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Yeah, my buddies new camera is about as high rez as it gets - just tack sharp pictures. Doesn't hurt that we were literally holding the camera in his face.

The guitar does look like it was refretted - the other thing is that its really a later version true Tele and not a true Esquire....the pickguard is newer and the neck pickup route is under there according to Lynchs tech ( I asked the same thing...) Again - apparently a gift from Billy Gibbons. They met at the Mojave factory and hit it off...

The tone was insane, and I've been super inspired ever since. I've got a swamp ash mutt thats coming back to life as a result, can't wait to blow it through my JMP
