Re: George Lynch in Portland - playing a .........

Also - we hung out with his singer for awhile after the show, and we were laughing about just how INTO IT Lynch is all night long...he mentioned a quote from blabbermouth.com where someone said regarding Lynchs face when he plays - "it's sorta like watching a retard eat spicy chicken wings...." way un - P.C., but funny nonetheless

.... retard & spicy chicken wings...funny. (hope that is of no offense to anyone here)

yeah, thats a Mutron 2 phase, a 70's oldie.
He looks to be stepping on a Boss footswitch too... an FS5?

Killer, I respect Lynch more and more..

Yeah that is a Boss FS5 - so what actually will that control? I know he had tape units and stuff behind the amps. And again - repeating the "chicken wings" comment was not meant to offend - just that if you've ever seen Lynch up close playing, well.....

It would be an on-off footswitch, likely for an effect like a delay. To bad that camera didn't have audio on it!

Friend of mine had a house built right in the same neighborhood as Lynch in Scotsdale like 10 years ago. He had been over to Georges house and got to play his ESP's. Said George really liked baseball bat type necks.

Great pics, thanks!

Did the tele have a stock pickup in it, or some kind of lil screaming demon?

Some of those early Teles and Esquires had ripping bridge pickups in them, some of them sound like P90's.

No. At the Galaxy Theater show one night during NAMM. Nuno's band Population 1 played. After Yngwie did a set, Nuno took the stage again and hosted one of the best shows I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. He stayed on stage the majority of the time, but he brought out many guests to join him. Towards the end of the show, George showed up. Between songs, while Nuno was talking, George was noodling around on his tele. That's when Nuno finally said, "George would you shut the fuck up?" We were all laughing our asses off.

*****the other thing is that its really a later version true Tele and not a true Esquire....the pickguard is newer and the neck pickup route is under there according to Lynchs tech ( I asked the same thing...) Again - ap*****

The first version of Esquires came out in 1950. They had pine bodys and no truss rod, were avalible with one or two pickups and had white or black pickguards (depending on body color). These were discotinued fairly quick. In 1951 the Esquire as we now know it was introduced and was made up until 1968. All of this second version of Esquire used Telecaster bodys with neck pick up route and all. The white pickguard replaced the black on in 1954.
