Re: Saw Whitesnake last night!

Sounds like a great show! I'm kinda pissed because they aren't playing the DC/Baltimore area. My only 'travel' show of the year is going to be the Gigantour, which is also not coming here. Bastards!

I don't why DC/Baltimore gets passed over on so many good shows--we may not be the rockin-est place on earth, but it's a HUGE metro area combined, so you'd think there would be enough people to justify a show. Hell, Priest drew 20,000 to their show here.

I think alot of it has to do with the fact that we do not have a medium size place, both nissan and meriweather are too big for them to sell out, and the rest of the clubs the stages are too small as well as the venues. These 80's groups only seem to be selling out the medium places these days, priest didnt even sell out nissan or pack it like it should be.

I also think it has to do with money, i would assume it costs alot to play in the DC area since we have such a high cost of living here, i bet to rent out a place is not cheap, i have never had to play big places, but i am sure they have to rent them out or give them a percentage of ticket sales and some places just might say no because they know they wont sell the place out or draw enough in sales.

We really need a good medium size place around here!

I wish they would tour over here. Two of my favourite guitarists, some of my favourite music. And when are they going to record with this kick arse lineup?!?

****Aldrich did the solo to "Crying In the Rain," and he just tore it up. I never realized that solo was that physical and wild. Gave me more respect for Vai (if that's possible), since it fits the song so seamlessly, but is a blast to watch.*****

Crying In the Rain wasn't Vai.

John Sykes (and before Marsden I guess, because it is a remake of een earlier version of this whitesnake song)

Re: Saw Whitesnake last night!

I saw Whitesnake with Reb a few years ago in Minneapolis.

I would recommend anyone that has not seen them that it is well worth it.

Great band.

Reb is very good by the way. He has is own style where he does not use his pinky much. He has some cool tap tricks. I have his instructional DVD. He has a song on a CD that I have - a bunch of different guitarists. Rebs song is first one. Kicks ass - very well put together soloing. I think the song is called Black Magic or something. He does it live on the DVD also.

yea, that's Black Magic. If you haven't already, check out his solo CD, Masquerade. He's a pretty handy vocalist as well.

Saw 'em here in Portland the other night. Coverdale's voice wasn't spot on I thought, but Aldrich was truly dangerous.

And I agree about the amps. The purty little red lights were never on.

Here in Spain, there's a music magazine for 30 years, called Popular1. It's a really good magazine. On the interviews this month is Neal Schon with Soul Sirkus, and Marco Mendoza asked some questions too.
He said that John Sykes/Coverdale reunion will never happen. "That bridge burned long time ago" he said. And David Coverdale wanted his musicians stay at home until the next tour, Marco said that he needed to work so he assummed he will not be in Whitesnake no more.
