It may seem bad, but look at it this way, if he didnt there would have been no dokken as we know it, we might have never heard about Jake E. Lee and possibly never Zakk either, because Ozzy did fire him it set off a chain of events. With George at guitar it is Possible Ozzy's career could have went down the shitter and there would be no ozzfest every year either! So everything happens for a reason. Plus i just cant see George up on stage playing Iron man every night pulling his hair out because it is so simple!

what you got against ozzfest, gives all the heavy metal people a place to go, and all the old bands a place to play and the new and upcoming bands a place to play. Yeah i may not like as much of the newer music, but hell back when i was young i would have loved to have ozzfest every year to bang my head.

i've read in few recent interviews that ozzy wants a guitar player that "he can write with" which i think is hilarious, considering that oz doesn't really write. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

as far as lynch goes, i liked tooth and nail as much as the next guy, but i cringe at the idea of him completely butchering randy's stuff and consider him losing the gig to jake is a VERY well dodged bullet. to me, a lot of his soloing sounds like a swarm of gnats. i like bits and pieces of his stuff, but i lost interest after under lock and key.

George has said on a number of occasions he doesn't like playing other people's songs. ALthought I think it would have been cool back then to see George with Ozzy I am in agreement with Sully that it worked out for the best.

Here is the bigger and more controversial question: who the hell cares?



At his best, Ozzy had a so-so voice and the whole bounce in one place while singing thing going on. Now he's just a fried, washed up has been who tortures us at every Ozzfest with the same tired songs, sung in a voice that has been known to knock birds out of the air midflight, struck dead by the shear power of its awfulness.

I'm happy for Ozzfest, but I always leave before Ozzy goes on. I always felt he was the weak link of both Black Sabbath and every incarnation of his own band. I'm happy he introduced us to Randy, Jake, and Zakk, but he gets far too much credit for a guy who pens mediocre lyrics and then butchers them.

Shaaaaaaron! Give me a break, the guy needs to move aside and let someone else into the limelight for a while. Go back to your ugly wife, fat kids, and dumb TV show.

Give it another year, and Zakk and EVH will finally make that album together, entitled Drunken Bird Calls and Debaucherous Squeals.

Bob daisley would be the guy writing the lyrics , ozzy rarely contributes to his music.His wife is just really good at taking starving musicians, giving them some limelight and raping them on song royalties.

Ozzy was given the boot from sabbath for alot of reasons, one of which he didnt write music or lyrics, that was iommii and butler respectively.

There is something wrong with ZAKK IMO. His songs aren't interesting anymore, all the same shit. Same thing with solos, not composed, just some random stuff in the pentatonic blues scale. WTF happned to Zakk? I want old Zakk back. Maybe he should stop calling everyone pussys because they can't play Crazy Train and concentrate on songwriting more.

I gotta give you one thing Sully, you certainly have a unique perspective on guitar players. I have never heard Lynch's soloing referred to as a swarm of gnats. I do disagree that George would "butcher" Randy's solo's. Not a chance bro. He may have added a bit more vibrato to them but he certainly wouldn't have butchered them. My take on the Lynch firing has always been that Ozzy didn't want an EVH in his band that could possibly steal the spotlight from himself. Randy certainly did it and Lynch absolutely would have. The only guitar player to ever overshadow Ozzy was Randy. Lynch would have been the second.

my thoughts behind the butchering statement was that the two have SUCH different feels, that i really can't see him doing justics to randy's parts. randy's stuff was very structured, where george seems to be very off the cuff.

my "gnats" analogy isn't really a put down, either.... that's what has often popped into my head when hearing his later dokken stuff. i'll have to listen to some of his solos and give you a specific, and maybe my analogy will make more sense. to my ears, he's got such an odd sense of phrasing that a lot of what he plays doesn't really sound musical, in key, or even in time. then again, he could be playing jazz.
