I always thought that the lisa loeb version of Goodbye to romance couldve been a hit for her.Dweezil does the solo note for note and gets the vibrato and every nuance perfect.I like the way she sang the song, like it was written for a girl to sing.

Well, I am going to be honest here. I have never said it, but I am going to now.

I can't stand Zakk. I don't really dig his guitar playing (with some exceptions) and he looks like a freakin' scuz that needs a shave and a bath.

Is he a great player. Yeah, he is. I will not dispute that. I just don't really dig his style, it does not inspire me at all.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

+1 i loved how she sang the keyboard line at the end. solo's not note for note, but i'm not gonna split hairs. i do love his use of different guitar sounds in different parts of the song. very well thought out and played.

[/ QUOTE ]I agree with you Mike. He is a great player but the whole tough guy image is weak and gets old very quick. Plus he acts like the whole BLS thing is like a biker gang or some shit is just flat out annoying at best. Simmer down, man!

I have a Japanese cd titled "Tribute To Randy Rhoads" and George plays the solos on Mr. Crowley & Flying High Again. He is amazing on both - his combination of speed, intensity and emotion is second to none.

Jake plays the solo on Crazy Train and it is killer. He rips that thing apart but plays it right for the song.

Chris Impellitteri(sp?) ruins Over The Mountain and that dude that played the guitar upside down - the body up by his head - ruins whatever it is he plays on. I cant remember his name.

I bought the cd to hear George and Jake.

lYNCH claims to have shown Rhoads that tapping part in flying high backstage back in 1978-79.SO its only fitting that he play the solo on it.He wrote that story in the liner notes of his "will work for food" cd.It features all the tunes george has guest played on, tributes, tony mcalpine and some rare Lynch Mob tunes.Pretty cool cd.I think he burned the copies himself, its a blue cd, not silver, haha. If your buying all those tributes to hear him playing, this is the cd you should buy.

Does Ozzy even need a new guitarist?

Zakk seems happy with BLS and Ozzy's with Sabbath. I think they should just leave it at that. Does the world need another Ozzy album and tour?

Say what you like about Zakk's ability and persona but if anyone was to take over from him they'd have a pretty massive pair of boots to fill.

What always pissed me off when I would see Dokken or Lynch Mob live is that George can't even play his own solos live. He always played something kind of close and then he improvises. I've read interviews with him where he's said it's just hard for him to play the same leads twice.

                [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly... That's why I love seeing him (or anyone) live. It's always new and fresh. With the improvization, sometimes it's hit, sometimes it's miss, but it's always unexpected.

                [/ QUOTE ]

+1 I always hated it when a band sounded like their CD on 11. When I saw Megadeth last year, Glen Drover sounded like a robot playing Marty's and Chris' leads. Yawn...

                [/ QUOTE ]

I much prefer ozzy's solo work over black sabbath anyday! Hell i even liked speak of the devil versions of black sabbath material alot better then the original, i think brads tone and playing was fucking great on that album. Yes ozzy needs a new guitarist, and yes it would be nice to get some new "good old fashioned" ozzy back.

As to black sabbath, they were at there best with ozzy, you either love ozzy or hate him, but flat out it was the whole package that made sabbath great, ozzy's different kind of vocals and the down tuned guitar.

As to playing solo's exactly, i am the same way, i could never play other peoples song exactly, noodles and i had this convesation allready once, to me you have to play with feel and if you play note for note you are not really playing feel, but playing technical. I do think you should keep it as close to as original, but most bands i have seen have never played all there own stuff note for note, hell most groups i have seen improvise the whole song somehow, just the way it goes. I also love live music for that reason, and just for the whole live vibe, i love the pounding of the drums and the bass as it viberates through your body, everything sounds so much better through the PA if you have a good sound man. My stereo in my jeep is about as close to live as you can, i have everything set up just perfect.

I remember learning stuff from both Randy and Jake to be quite a challenge back in the days.. and Zakk's lead is IMO just not up in the same league
na-h .. and the same applies to the Ozzy albums after Bark at the Moon

Maybe Zakk should join Van Halen...

that EVH could NEVER learn the solo to Mr. Crowely..

not even then...and definely not now...

Randy is the man for any post Sabbath Ozzy. While Jake and Zakk had some good points, not on par with the first 2 solo albums imho..

Randy Rhoads made me start playing guitar and George lynch kept the fire burning...they were my all time favorites in the 80's (I dug Jake, Mathias Jabs, and Ronnie Le Tekro as well). I think back in those days George would have fit the bill as Ozzy's guitarist better than he would now, as his phrasing seems a bit more out there than it used to be (I thought he butchered Mr. Crowley...I didn't dig that solo at all).
Also, George lost out on two Ozzy auditions...once to Jake and earlier to Randy. After Randy got the gig, George took over his teaching job at Musonia.

He is a monster of a player but he's the only guy I know that can take killer Marshall amps and make them sound like ass. His solo's do nothing for me. I am certainly in the minority on this one!!
