Re: Is Ozzy dropping Zakk?

My all-time favorite song that George recorded has to be "Goin' Down". DAMN, he played his ass off on that one!!

ozzy should just get Paul Gilbert and call it a day.
but that probably won't happen cause sharron won't pay him what he's worth.

Who could pay PG what he's worth? I'd love to see him join Ozzy's band and then get Dio to replace Ozzy. That would be awesome.

Oh,oh, somebody expressed an opinion of Lynch 'sounds' unmusical....let the mud fly!
Oh well, to each their own.

My last memory of Ozzy and Zakk show was about '94-95... you know back in the day when he said, "No more tours tour" He was claiming he was sick and doing what looked like 'leap frog' all night. That was his idea of "giving the best show I could" Zakk did a really lazy slide solo and acted like he was playing sitting on a dock somewhere on the Mississippi instead of on a stage in front of thousands of people thru a PA pumping mega watts.

Btw, I like Zakk..

As far as Ozzy with guitarists, he was courting Michael Schenker during the Lynch-Gillis time frame as well. I think it was actually pre Lynch. I kinda like wondering what Michael's rendition of playing old Sabbath songs would have been like if he had taken the gig.

I think Ozz should name a tour "lets the pigs fly" rather appropriate for buckets of guts if even he does that still.

It would be awesome if Jake were to one day rejoin Ozzy. Jake's the best player Ozzy ever had, period!
I remember reading something with Jake E. Lee one time ripping on George Lynch's rhythm playing, saying it was lame and there was really not much to it, typical triads, diads and two-finger power chords. His leads, on the other hand, were a lot better.

Well, a doctor did tell him he had "a little MS" and that he should take it easy. Ozzy decided he would retire if he was sick, but a record company exec told him to get a second opinion, which he eventually did, and the new doctor told him the old doctor was full of shit... so no retirement like was originally planned. Jake's rhythm work is awesome. Much more complex than Lynch's. However, I like Lynch's rhythm work...mostly because I can play it and make it sound good!!!!

Lynch's solos are, to my ears, better than most of Jake's. However, they are both great players whose talent I would happily put to use if it were mine.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

[/ QUOTE ]Definitely both great players in their own right. I've always gravitated to Jake's style and tone a little more; though I was a huge Dokken fan and still am, even without George. I think Reb and John did an amazing job in replicating his tone and writing some kick-ass tunes. I'd actually have to say that Reb did an amazing job and Erase The Slate is probably my favorite Dokken album, though.

After hearing Tony Iommi's new album I have a pretty good idea who Ozzy would record with next ... *if* he's got two functioning brain cells left to rub together that is.

Jake is a monster player, as is Lynch. I don't know how George would fit in playing with Ozzy though.

I can only hope Ozz drops Zakk. I've grown extremely tired of his "obnoxious tough guy wannabe outlaw biker" persona I could puke. I've never been particularly impressed with his playing either. I'm sure that Ozzy won't have trouble finding a replacement, if he is indeed looking for one.

Last time I liked Zakk was on "No Rest for the Wicked". I know the man can play rings around me, but that act of his is physically tiring for me to watch.

Totally disagree. I've seen Iommi live a number of times (including last year), and I've always thought his live tone was the best. True, he favors a brighter lead sound than many, but that's just his own tone--and has been since the late '70s.
