Re: Live After Death

"Rock In Rio" is a little bit mushy/muddy and I can't even hear Steve's bass when everybody is playing. Download the new show in the other thread and you get "Rock In Rio" thickness with the individual clarity/breadth of some of the old live recordings. The guitar tones are rather massive yet easy to pick out the three guitarists and Steve all individually.

I love Maiden England - I was at the show before (I think, it was real close anyway!) at Wembley, London, and Seventh Son is my favourite period of Maiden: I was 15 in 1988, at the peak of my brain being a music sponge!

i will be very happy if ME comes out on dvd. i made a vhs to cassett copy years ago and played that till the cassett wore out. i hope they don't re-master it and make it sound like shit like all the re-masters these days.

the Iron Maiden remasters - "lets, um make it so that it sounds great in cheap computer speakers and surround sound, and then sound like shit in you home stereo and car."

ME is on DVD. It's just a basic VHS to DVD transfer but the sound quality is great and in true stereo. I got my ME DVD around the same time as my LAD DVD.

Both are illegal, by the way. But they'll probably put those shows on the next "The History Of Iron Maiden" DVD set anyways, and maybe better quality.

All my Maiden albums are the 1998 Enhanced CD versions... I think they sound great everywhere, even on the mix tape I made for my car's tape deck.

I did a VHS to cassette tape conversion as well for that one! I did a similar thing with Slayer's Live Intrusion as well. If only I could find these damn tapes!...Damn cds have spoiled me!

                    Re: Live After Death

Although not metal, I still dig "Cheap Trick Budokan" since it represents to me timeless, youthful, party music.. in fact I like it better than the mega-successful "Frampton Comes Alive". Remove "Baby I love your Way" and "Do You Feel Like I Do" off the 1976 pretty boy's album and "Kiss Alive" would probably be the best selling live album ever. That’s just my guess.

Coolest pre-Frampton live metal - "Deep Purple Made in Japan"

Worst I now have is the Dokken live album. It's so bad I don't remember the title. It's thin and meaningless. The recording quality of “Ozzy/Randy Tribute” isn't thick either but that album is cool for the memories it captured and gave back to us. "AC-DC If You Want Blood.." is great for similar reason: the late Bon Scott. “Ozzy Speak of the Devil” was filler material and therapy time for Ozzy, and easily gets it's ass kicked by Black Sabbath Reunion.

"Live After Death" was the coolest for a decade, then came “Ministry - In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up” followed closely by "Slayer - Decade of Aggression". Current undisputed metal champion is now "Halford - Live Insurrection" An absolutely amazing recording that hammers metal into your body with a pulverizing effect and precision musicianship.

hey bro, that Jackson Adrian played on the Seventh Son tour (maiden england vhs) was a synth guitar, he used it to get synth tones for several songs, including Stranger in a Strange Land.

Adrian is one of my all time favorite players. his tone is so true and his attack just kills. cuts right through, you know it's him every time. gives me the douchechills! LOL
