• Arsis - A Celebration Of Guilt

just picked up this album and it reminds me so much of Testament and Tompa from AtG its not even funny. I was wondering wat these guys used on record...sounds like a rectifier tone to me but I could be wrong.

dude...they are great...on Willowtip records..

I posted a thread praising them and their labelmates Capharnuam , The Alarum , and Necrophagist which are all equally good..IMO

I never ivestigated what gear Arsis used because the music and writing is what caught my attention not the guitar tone itself...isn't that just two guys...I know one of these bands are..I think thats them..

Check into SYMBYOSIS if you have't already..now that is a killer player and sound ...you'll like 'em..

fuckin right! Arsis is from my area. they are super nice guys and the lead guitarist/singer is amazing. he plays such awesome leads and sings at the same time, the drummer owns too.

the only guitar ive ever seen the main guy play is a bright yellow Ibanez RG. he had some rack gear as an amp, i couldnt make out what was in it

Great band! James (vox and geetar) played all the guitars and bass on the album. Every pic I've seen of him shows him playing an Ibanez.

Yeah, had this album for quite a time now. Very good stuff, more of an aggressive edge. Their guitartone is not my cup of tea though, the music is!

Arsis rocks. They've got a new EP coming out shortly, too...

Bill, check out Willowtip artist Gorod - an excellent slab'o tech death metal...
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.

Cool, I didn't know there were Willowtip fans here! I dig Arsis too, but Capharnaum is my favorite band on the label. The drumming and riffing are phenomenal. That's the lead guitarist from (Canadian)Martyr on that cd. Death/Shred-heads should definitely check them out too. Symbiosis and Alarum are also interesting musically challenging bands, and the guitarists in Necrophagist are SICK!!!
