Saw them on the reunion tour, probably the best show I've ever seen. It was an 80's guitar metal fest without a doubt.

I might pick up the new CD, I will definately buy the new DVD from the reunion tour when it comes out.

Clifton Park NY that's all me, 5 minutes from my house! As for the message, I don't care wehat they're singing about just the same as I have no idea what Lamb Of God is singing about. Dude, I was born in 1970. I got to enjoy Stryper polluting my MTV the first time around. They can play, I am not disputing that...but man, the songs fucking suck. "To Helllll with the Deeeeevilllll"....Oh, please..fucking SPARE ME. I don't know what I get a headache from quicker, the damn lyrics or the overwhelming sea of black and yellow.

They were a joke when they were new, they are still a joke. I could sit through a triple header of Firehouse, Poison and Trixter before I could sit through one Stryper show.

Oh, well... I guess I kinda went off there. Sorry, I know you like them. To each their own.

I was almost with you until you threw in Trixter. I would much rather see Stryper. A guilty pleasure for sure. There are many songs from bands I like where I don't like the lyrics. Stryper is just one of them.

Well as a open minded musician , I can really appreciate Stryper..they are VERY VERY good at what they do...and they sound better than ever..great guitar playing , riffs tone and harmonies..awesome stuff!

But I take what I like from all metal genres that are talented..like Stryper To Cradle of Filth for that matter..

as long as they have some "musical" value to me...and Stryper definitely have musical value..IMO

just like most death metal or black metal bands...I dig. I'm a guitarist , bassist , songwriter..I pay little mind to the lyrical content of some of my very favorite bands...but the musical is killer..that is what motivates me...as a craft!

so I take what I like and incorporate that into my own writing and style..

I probably know about more christian metal bands than most christians on this board..no lie...and there is some AWESOME Christians bands out there...they have always been out there...and a lot of metalheads write them off or don't take them seriously because of their lyrical content..or message..

any true metal head here no matter what kind of metal you like can NEVER deny such originality and talent of such bands as Believer , Tourniquet , Deliverance , Extol , Lengsel , Vengeance , Crutch , some Mortification..Deitrus and a shitload of others..

I'm a Satanist , and one throwdown TRUE metalhead and sredmiester but I'd rather listen to a band like Stryper than some shit box Satanic black metal band that sounds like a horde of bees , horrible writing with lo-fi production that sounds like total ass...well some lo-fi stuff is intended with some talented bands..like Darkthrone , Mayhem and shit..that's cool!

Bottomline is ...If a band has Musical value to me...I'm down with it...no matter what genre of metal...

that kind of stuff is what motivated me to start that prejudice in metal thread in the non related section.....for basically this reason..and whatnot...mostly about the harsh vocal thing.

I may listen to a stryper riff...and that riff may spark an idea of my own...I may take and run with that idea...and buy the time I'm done with it ..it' won't sound anything like Stryper...but that idea came from THEM...for example..
