• Iron Maiden Strats

Hey dudes. I was looking aroun dand can't seem to find any good pictures or info on the Fender Iron Maiden Signature Strat. I remeber it was out a few years ago then cancelled. If anyone here has one and can post pictures that would be great.

Also, pix and info on Dave Murray's old Strat. The black one with the maple neck and the HSH pickups with rings mounted on the pickguard.

Yeah, I've got a Strat coming to me in a few days and want to give it the proper Maiden treatment.

i played one in canada while visiting my girlfriends parents about 3 or 4 years ago, (not longer with her) and well Ay it was a good guitar, but AY didnt like the basswood body. I would have bought one if it had an alder body, but AY i probaly should have, i am sure they are becoming collectors items.

I forgot those had (b)asswood bodies! Alder or swamp ash would definitely have been the way to go on those.

If I remember correctly, there was also a model offered by Musician's Friend that had two humbuckers.

I have this guitar and I purchased it thru MF. This thing sounds too good to be basswood, and is also heavy compared to other basswood guitars I have played. Is there a way to tell what kind of wood painted guitars are made off? Weight? Just curious....

I have no idea why they came up with that Iron Maiden sig guitar: I guess it's closest to Dave Murray's custom shops, but it doesn't acurately represent any of their guitars - OK, it's an amalgamation of all of their instruments, but what's the point?

I have a theory about that; It was probably only feasible for Fender to do one Iron Maiden Strat - not three. And the guys in Maiden are all buddies and won't screw each other over.

I think they should've done three dedicated signatures in limited numbers; A Murray sig one year, and Adrian Sig the next and then a Gers sig. The diehard collectors would have had to get at least two.

It would have been awesome to see replicas of Dave's old black one and Adrian's white one as Player's Select series or something.

Re: Iron Maiden Strats

I guess that makes sense - I'm surprised they've never done sig models for them, simply because Dave and Adrian's guitars incorporate the most common mods to a std strat (floyd and pickups). Having said that, Adrian just plays USA Floyd Rose classic strats anyway, and those appear on ebay quite regularly.....

man.. daves '57 strat has achieved so much fame in metal circles, that if fender brought it out as a signature axe or a players select i think it'd be the best seling model ..

their axes are real cheap to replica though. adrians is just a 'lone star' fender with the bridge a Dimarzio PAF, jan's is a 60's strat with just the pups changed to JBJr's and daves is basicaly 'just' a lone star with a hotrail fitted SSS pickguard.

dont get much easier than that.
You can't play no muthfuggin' arpeggios on a tuba...

from what i've heard, dave's famed guitar has a super distortion in the rear. but what does it have up front?

"We" didn't come up with the specs, Iron Maiden did. It's my fault these guitars were released in the US, I begged the marketing manager to add them to the line. Initially, they were just Japan and Europe but the last page of the tourbook had an ad for them. The specs were decided on by the Maiden camp.

They are very rare as we only brought in a fixed quantity - sorry, don't remember the figure.

I didn't even get one, but I did make my own "Murray Strat."

What he's playing these day are basically American Deluxe Strat's with Floyds - same with Adrian. Alex Perez built them.
