Re: Def Leppard - Dayton, OH 8/9/05 Phil & Viv\'s G
First time I heard "Wasted", I thought, "Is that a Maiden riff?"
YESSSSSS!!!!! In four hours from now, I go see the Lep. Gonna get some pics especially of Phil's Jacksons. Look for them tomorrow!!
Also got row six Priest tickets for their show here in October. And here I was complaining a few months ago about how no bands I like come to my hometown despite it being the capital city of the second largest country in the world. As you can probably tell, I don't get to go to concerts often and I get giddy when I do get to go to one nearby.

Okay, no pictures. I forgot my camera, and my buddy got us seats in row 41. We were FAR back.
But cool show... slightly extended setlist including "Two Steps Behind" (acoustic) and "Gods Of War".
Re: Def Leppard - Dayton, OH 8/9/05 Phil & Viv\'s G
There was a time in the early 90's Pre-Slang when I thought the Leps had a real identity crisis. The ballady, radio-friendly songs they were putting out sounded waaaay too much like Brian Adams to me. Similar vocals and production, they were almost interchangeable. Kinda funny that they were out together.
Re: Def Leppard - Dayton, OH 8/9/05 Phil & Viv\'s G
Yeah, alot of casual listeners had trouble keeping Leppard and Bryan apart in the early nineties because Mutt Lange co-wrote and produced Bryan´s Waking up the Neighbors. To this day alot of people think Adrenalize is in fact Bryan when I put it on. Both are great albums, by the way.

I believe the 'Leppers did backing vocals on that disc, too. IIRC, they're good friends with Adams.
Re: Def Leppard - Dayton, OH 8/9/05 Phil & Viv\'s G
That´s something I didn´t know! I just checked the liner notes to confirm, but the only thing I found was a reference to "the tuck back twins" doing backing vocals... I guess that could be two of the Leps? Joe and Phil?
Re: Def Leppard - Dayton, OH 8/9/05 Phil & Viv\'s G
Just got back from seeing them. Great show, Phil is really an underappreciated lead player. He was fantastic. Same set and guitars listed in first post except he also played a red PC1. Liked the glow in the dark Dinky with the graphic. Who's face is that supposed to be?
Re: Def Leppard - Dayton, OH 8/9/05 Phil & Viv\'s G
That is "Bela" as in Bela Lugosi the famous actor from the 20's and 30's. His most famous role was that of Dracula.
Phil's had that guitar as well as his Crackle neckt thru for nearly 20 years now. As a matter of fact they were one of the first that Grover jackson had made for Phil.
They both had various Kahler trems and were converted to Floyds when I saw them on the Adrenalize tour.
