Re: Mark Tremonti & Alter Bridge

So it appears Tremonti has unf-ed himself and is now worthy of praise here. I guess my mother was right, bless her soul.. "It's not YOU, it's that kid you're hanging around with."
I always liked his playing but took crap due to him being in Creed. Well if he's now playing a Uber maybe there is hope he'll try out a Soloist. That would be cool just as long as Jackson doesn't start pasting his face everywhere. He'll never be as cool as Jenna.

Yeah, and everyone says Mesa sucks.

Just remember most amps can be great, just the people that tweak them that make them sound like crap. If you dont take your time and play then of course you are gonna get a shitty sound. I will put my roadking up against any amp out there!

yea but his really good heavy tone comes from the uber I believe song 5 and song 9.Please don't try to compare Bogner to Mesa. Different leagues.

Actually bogner and mesa are in the same leauge, i have played both and i will tell you straight out they are both killer amps. I still prefer the Mesa over the Bogners just because they are way more versitile. The bogner is slight better for leads where the mesa is defintly a better rythem amp.

Re: Mark Tremonti & Alter Bridge

Well whatever amp he used for Metalingus and End is Near (if those are indeed tracks done with the Bogner) is what he should stay with cause those songs just absolutely kill. Particularly End is Near. Which is a good example of not needing a solo if you can come up with some monster riffs.

Speaking of the dude from Staind...

I heard that he had taken lessons from Tony Mcalpine, and that at one point he had to make a decision to either tour with Tony or play with Staind. I didn't quite believe it. Well, last Friday Staind was on Howard Stern and they played a song written by Beetlejuice. It was acoustic, but the guy was shredding all over it during one part. He can actually play. Who knew? I thought the Tony Macalpine thing was just something he said to guitar mags so he'd look like he knew what he was doing.

What's next? I also read that that Chad pansy in Knickleback was also a shredder at one point...

that's what I thought too. I keep reading interviews where he'd talk about sitting in his room, wailing on Yngwie and I just imagined a thousand other kids (and myself) doing awful renditions of the intro to I'll See The Light Tonight. And then you'd check out the Staind transcription in the same mag and see how skillfully he plays 3 notes per bar.

Reminded me of all those Mira Sorvino interviews where she'd keep telling us how smart she really is and she's not like Romy & Michelle at all.

Mark recorded Metalingus with Recto, then overdubed with Uber and he also used some H&K preamp wich is turned down in the mix. Mesa is definetly the loudest amp in the mix. The tone character comes from the Mesa all the way, Uber adds a lot of bottom end to it that's it.
Uhh and there are a lot of records that have way more heavyer tone with recto alone, but mixing different amps together gives a nice tonality.

See i am the same way, i love to shread at times and i grew up shreding in the 80's, but now when i write music i prefer more music with feel then playing five million notes a second. I also dont feel the need to shred all over every song. Give me a song with great feel and played with heart and i will love it forever, but give me a song with someone that plays a million notes but sounds so sterile and i will hate it.

Exactly, it is how you mix it, I have played the bogner and still play recto's, and lets just say the bottom end on both are great.

All tremontis live shows are played with a recto and a uberschall. Plus a gforce and his morley wahs. Then some fender amps which i dont know what theyre called for all the cleans. But Ive met him a couple of times and even gotten to play his singlecut with the dimebag sticker on it
